Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny take a trip down the Mississippi River in a paddle-wheel boat and stay in a haunted cabin! At least it seems haunted - ther are spooky phone calls, flickering lights, and strange shadows. Are there really ghosts, or is someone trying to scare the Boxcar Children away?

I think my students are really going to like these mysteries in graphic form. The quality of the illustrations is quite good. It follows the books pretty well, where the kids are pretty independent and help others.

This book is a graphic novel and is Fantasy/realistic fiction, some parts of this graphic novel are realistic while others may be more on the fantasy side and far fetched. Age: 2nd-5th grade Text to self- This book reminds me of games I played when I was little with my friends and sister. We would pretend to find buried treasure or time capsules. We also played other mystery solving games, sometimes even games where we were stranded and we would have to fend for ourselves. Text to book- This book reminded me of the original "The Boxcar Children" books for the obvious reason that this graphic novel is a shorter version of the same mystery loving books I grew up reading. This graphic novel has the same characteristic and fun characters as the original series. Text to world- This book can related to lots of mysteries in the world that have been solved. This book can also related to lots of other kids play games when they are growing up. These games remind us of the activities that took place in this graphic novel.

The boxcar children graphic novels are a series that follows a group of kids who actually live in an old boxcar. They go on adventures and solve mysteries. I read 'The Haunted Cabin Mystery'. A bunch of creepy things begin happening such as lights flickering, shadows, and weird phone calls. I was never a huge fan of graphic novels growing up, but I really did enjoy this series. The illustrations are similar to a comic strip. There are typically 4-5 illustrations on each page. They are very detailed with color and black outlines. I like the white margins that separate every picture. It makes it look very organized and appealing to the eye. It helps with the organization too because of having so many pictures, it makes it less confusing. When it came to the story I liked how in yellow boxes it would give the background story, opposed to the white bubbles that were the conversations between each character. That also made it much easier to follow the story. Overall I think the story is very fun and exciting for children and I like the fact that its a series and you can really get to know each of the main characters!
