The graphic novel Snow White offers a new version of this folk tale classic. The story begins by introducing the cast of characters. Students would have to be guided through the reading of this story, because it is very different from what they are used to. This book provides an excellent opportunity to introduce young kids to the graphic format through a story they are already familiar with. To help with classroom use, there is a glossary, brief history of the tale, discussion questions, writing prompts, and suggested Internet sites. The interest level of this book would be 3rd grade and up because of the nature of the illustrations.

She loved flirting with men that were not her's and the next one on the list was Prince Marco she tried but he never got convinced but one day Snow White came to town and Prince Marco fell in love with her. Queen Mara got mad that she trapped hem in her mirror then she tried to find Snow White. One day she found her and gave her a poison apple. Next she fell to a deep sleep. Will she ever wake up? I can't believe I spent my library's money on this terribly rendered, terribly designed, terribly retold version of Snow White. Everything about it is awkward and amateurish, even down to the text font choices. The alterations to the story add nothing and are completely unnecessary; in fact Powell undermines much of what makes the original so compelling. Please, find any other version of this story before wasting time on this one. Its creative enough to be a thoroughly enjoyable new take on the tale - but there was a theme of weird for weirdness sake that I couldn't get into. And Snow White's bulging eyes were seriously distracting. I had to read this for a project in my fairy tales class. I liked the small changes made to it, but nothing really stood out to me.

The concept is cool, but that’s about it. The art is ugly. It’s poorly written and rushed to the point of b info unbearable. None for me, thanks.

I thought that this graphic novel had intricate details when it came to the pictures. For example, I loved how the illustrator added in a poison symbol to the apple on the front cover. Without text, (and my background knowledge of the tale), I could tell that she was going to be harmed by a poisonous apple. The pictures in this graphic novel, along with some prior knowledge of the fairy tale, can really help those who are struggling with reading. I don't really care for the illustrations of the characters in this book. They look weird and unnatural. And yes, I know they are cartoons, but there is a disturbing aspect to all the characters in this book, including Snow White. This is a twisted fairy tale. There is no huntsman. The dwarves save Snow White from the queen and the prince, who ultimately wakes her, was a prisoner in the queen's mirror. I taught summer school this year and our theme was Fairy Tales. One of the things I did was bring in about 75 different fairy tale books. We compared and contrasted a variety of Cinderella stories. We discussed all the different ways there are to tell a story. We talked about story elements and plot lines... so much. Another thing I did was introduce kids to graphic novels. This book was one of the ones I used for it. I liked it. Several of my students absolutely loved it.

741.50 Powell. Stone Arch graphic novel with dramatic Anime like illustrations. A nice twist on the Grimms brothers' tale of vanity on steroids. I especially liked the history of Snow White in the back of the book that suggests the story may be based on a real person in the 1500's who was loved by Phillip II of Spain and was poisoned at age 21. "The villain was never found". 741.50 Powell. Stone Arch graphic novel with dramatic Anime like illustrations. A nice twist on the Grimms brothers' tale of vanity on steroids. Pretty but confusing retelling of Snow White. Snow White has zero backstory, and can mysteriously make flowers and fruit grow in the winter. The Seven Dwarves greet her joyfully, having apparently dreamed about guarding her, which is news to the reader. Why did they dream about her? Who knows.

I have read/heard/seen several different versions of the Snow White tale, but this one was entirely new to me. I liked the fresh spin on one of the most popular & most retold fairy tales ever.
