This was a pretty good graphic novel of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Lords of Avalon book Swords of darkness. This was a pretty good graphic novel of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Lords of Avalon book Swords of darkness. It had a great storyline and the artwork was amazing. If you are a fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon's novels, then be sure to check this book out at your local library and wherever books are sold.

   Based on Kinley MacGregor's (note: MacGregor is the pen-name for Sherrily Kenyon) best selling paranormal romance series, Lords of Avalon, this graphic novel is the adaptation of the first book in the series, Sword of Darkness. Similar to its counterpart, the graphic novel is filled with likable characters, good action sequences and quite a few tender and rather passionate moments between Kerrigan and Seren. I was half afraid that Ohtsuka would go overboard in drawing the various love scenes but Based on Kinley MacGregor's (note: MacGregor is the pen-name for Sherrily Kenyon) best selling paranormal romance series, Lords of Avalon, this graphic novel is the adaptation of the first book in the series, Sword of Darkness. Similar to its counterpart, the graphic novel is filled with likable characters, good action sequences and quite a few tender and rather passionate moments between Kerrigan and Seren. I was half afraid that Ohtsuka would go overboard in drawing the various love scenes but he manages to balance the nudity and sexuality in his artwork that it does not overpower the real story, which is the growing friendship and romance between Kerrigan and Seren.

   For book 2 of my Popsugar 2015 reading challenge: "read a graphic novel" I chose this one. My mom had actually given this to me years ago and it was still in the shrink wrap. It wasn't until I was finished with it that I realized I actually own the paperback full book version of this story. Lol! The artwork was fantastic and reading graphic version of this was very interesting and now I want to go back and reread the paperback.    Damn was I blown away! Having read both Sword of Darkness and Knight of Darkness, I was NOT expecting to be enraptured with the comic version. However, not only was the art on a level that blew my mind to the point of insanity, but the conversion was very well executed! I found that the writers stuck very closely to the oringal book plot, and as a result, truly loved this new take on LOA.

   Thought it might be better in graphic novel format, but the heroine often looks like Spritle from Speed Racer in a blond wig. Drawings lack consistency.

    The graphic novel is a very abridged version of the story in the books done in a visual medium. You know that the story is great if you've read the books; it might seem like it's incomplete if all you read is this. Art wise, it's give or take. There's nothing particularly special about it nor is it particularly bad. I would say it's worth a read if you're a total completist and must read everything that was ever written by Kenyon. Otherwise, read the novel and skip the visuals. The graphic novel is a very abridged version of the story in the books done in a visual medium.
