Deadbeat daddy story Delivering His Gifts is a fairly amateurish book. With numerous side stories and very little content about the actual love story, it is primarily about the crazy ex husband and his attempt to sabotage the heroines property and gain possession of their daughter. Why buy a romance book when you can have a story about the wacky ex who burns down your house, kidnaps your daughter and has a loan shark in his back pocket that the heroine is stupid enough to contact? The book is completely contrived, lacks continuity and has huge jumps in time with no mention of their life. Also, it appears the author ran out of time because the conclusion to the various side stories, birth of the twins, introduction of his extended family and wedding is paragraphs at the end, not chapters throughout as would lend a more emotional flow to the story. Not the worst but really unengaging because of the lack of continuity, transition, or focus on the hero/heroine emotions.

People were not animals and could not be “trained” to act differently once they had become adults. She had learned that lesson as a child. She had loved her parents and they had loved her to the best of their abilities, but their drinking altered their ability to manage themselves, and certainly made caring for the needs of a child challenging. As a result, Danielle as a child had learned to anticipate the unpredictability of the human’s actions. So, Danielle turned to animals. She found that animals could be loved, taught and depended on in ways that humans could not be depended on and certainly not trusted. And, while Danielle never feared her menagerie of animals—dogs both big and small, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs, she knew that humans were not as predictable in their actions. She had learned that lesson with her parents, and she certainly had that lesson reinforced with the “gentle reminders” of her ex-husband and serial cheater, Greg. And while Greg had never physically harmed her, he had certainly tried to “train” her to his will with his verbal assaults and threats. And, once their daughter Skylar was born, the sweet baby had unknowingly become the “tool” of greatest power and manipulation that Greg could use to control Danielle. So now, Greg’s day to day emotional manipulation kept Danielle ever wary of his next act of mental and emotional aggression, often delivered with financial threats. And he had the means to carry out constant assaults. As a man of family wealth and power, he had the lawyers and their legal actions to box her in with threats to seek sole custody of Skylar, just as Greg desired. And, currently Greg controlled her financially. Danielle operated a rescue and training facility for dogs. Following the flooding destruction of the rains and dam break near Liberty, Utah, her land had been flooded. While the house had been on a higher elevation and avoided damage, the kennels, where her rescue and support animals were housed and trained, had been destroyed. Without housing, the dogs had been moved to other shelters throughout the state, but without the dogs, her business was effectively closed. And without the business, she had no means of making payments to Greg and the bank for the land on which the house and destroyed shelter were located. And with the bank threatening foreclosure on the remaining building—her house—Greg would finally have just cause to seek sole custody of Skylar on grounds of her inability to provide housing for their daughter until Mason Harvey entered world of the mother and daughter team. For Mason Harvey, one of four brothers from Tennessee who had relocated their lives and business to the area of Liberty where they had recently discovered a half-brother, family was central. The brothers Harvey where all former military, and each had gained specialized skills during their active-duty years, and now, they joined their skills in their business of protection and investigation. All four Harvey brothers were physically powerful men whose intellect and strength made each man a challenging force to encounter, but whose power was always united for family. Currently, Mason is on a personal mission. The veteran, who served as a medic during his Afghanistan tour, and his brothers are actively involved in helping with the recovery of Liberty post flood. And, among the many residents whose housing suffered damage was another veteran, Calvin who lived daily with the effects of his service in Vietnam—a prosthetic leg and PTSD that still torments him. Mason has helped secure Calvin temporary housing until his former house can be rebuilt. But Mason has more in mind that would assist Calvin in gaining a fuller life. He would like to hook Calvin up with a support dog that could assist in a variety of tasks and needs and provide support and comfort to the aging warrior. And, Mason has done his due diligence. He has researched comfort/support dogs and has discovered that a well-respected trainer actually lives in Liberty—Danielle Baker—and he intends to seek her services in securing and training a dog for Calvin. And so, he goes to Danielle’s Liberty home to contract her services only to walk in on Greg’s Jekyll and Hyde personality flip when he talks to his daughter and wife as he prepares to leave with Skylar for her weekend stay with him. KC Crowne’s stories of the Mountain Men of Liberty, Utah, especially those peopled with the Brothers Harvey, are always full of interesting individuals dealing with the challenges that life and the individuals' choices have put in their paths. Each tale is a standalone romance, but the plots allow the citizens of Liberty to pass through the tale, so that the reader often encounters friends and family encountered from other stories of Liberty. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review, but I bought a copy for my “read again” collection.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review. In this book we meet Danielle Baker and we get Mason Harvey's story. In this book we meet Danielle Baker and we get Mason Harvey's story. When this book opens we find that Mason is not only the doc who helped out at the clinic during the flood. He is one of the guys who is determined to make a difference in people's lives. See he is visiting with Calvin a war vet who doesn't get out much. So he makes sure he has food to eat and someone to talk to at least for a little while. On this particular visit it is that time of year where the kids are lighting off fireworks. He knows this will get to the vet since it gets to him as well. So when he can't get Calvin to come to the door he knows he needs more. That is when he learns about Danielle's work with therapy dogs and thinks this will be the perfect match. Danielle's business has been severally impacted by the flood. With the buildings no long structurally sound she can't bring new clients to them. When her ex gets on her case about it all she knows she has to do something or lose something even more precious then her business her daughter. When Mason shows up she is definitely leery of him. She wonders if he is just out to hurt her like her ex has in the past but there is something about him that really hopes that isn't true. Can these two find a HEA they didn't know was there for them or will pain from the past make a future impossible? This is another hit out of the park by this author. Yes it has its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. You won't want to put it down till you read those two words "the end" and really not even then. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Mason is looking for an emotional support dog for a local VET with PTSD issues. Mason was immediately attracted to Danielle and an instant connection with her young daughter Skyler which was very unnerving, with his past and the fear it would carry forward to his future relationships. Danielle seems to be carrying baggage from her abusive past childhood and an abusive ex-husband that will not allow her to carry on with her life. As much as Danielle and Mason fight the pull towards each other nature takes its course even though the road is rough and rocky with all the threats, the abusive ex-husband and all his schemes. But Danielle shows her mama Bear personality and Mason’s papa bear persona kicks in - so beware. As with all of the stories in this series once your start reading the first page you are hooked, you are completely involved and you find yourself trying to figure out ways to fix it before you turn those pages to find out how the real fix really truly is. You absolutely can read this and all these books as stand alone but trust me when I say you don’t want to miss a single word of any of this series, I just wished there was a way this series could continue on and on and on. What say you Ms. Crowne? I definitely recommend this. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.

It's always good to have a plan! Danielle is a single Mom, to her daughter Skyler. Greg is her absolutely controlling abusive ex. She was strong, determined, and fierce when it came to protecting Skyler. Mason,a Veteran and the protector carries a heavy load of guilt with him. He walked around with a serious sense of inadequacy of not being present when he was needed. Mason, looks after another Vet, an older man, in his 70s, named, Calvin. Calvin, was alone in the world and suffered from PTSD. H It's always good to have a plan! Danielle is a single Mom, to her daughter Skyler. Greg is her absolutely controlling abusive ex. Dani's ex, Greg caused a lot of problems and his associates were not nice men. Dani made a few bad decisions under stress for the greater good. But, they created long lasting problems. Greg's behavior heavily influenced Dani's absolute lack of trust and unwillingness to ask for help. It took Dani time before she fully trusted Mason. Mason is a bit of a hot head, letting his emotions rule him in tense situations. He turned into a grizzly when his girls were threatened. Dani and Mason ended up in precarious positions, thanks to Greg. They worked on their relationship, one trust event at a time and became stronger. Does Greg become a problem? Does Calvin find the good help he needs? Is Mason able to be present if the chips are down? Can Dani let Mason in? Good story. Very nice characters. I look forward to reading about Mason's brothers. Nicely done. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Very nice cover art!

One such person that Mason helped was a retired vet from the Vietnam war whose house was destroyed, Calvin needed more help then Mason could give him, so Mason found a person Danielle, who is a dog supports trainers and she helped him find the perfect dog and trained him for Calvin. Danielle is a divorce mother of a 5 year old little girl, who ex husband is a rich abusive man that is uses to getting his own way, he threatened her at all times, which caused Dani to have trust issues with everyone and when Mason came around needed her help and flashing his money for her help of a support dog for his friend she wasn't sure. But over time Dani learned that Mason was one of the good guys, but still didn't trust him. Until one day when she had no one to turn to for help she turned to Mason. And what Mason and Danielle found was much more then then a dog trainer, and a man helping a friend, they both taught each other to trust yourself and trust in each other and to trust in love again. I am volunteering to leave a ARC review of this book.

After a crazy night with Mason, Danielle is pregnant. She doesn't want to trust Mason. He will do what he needs to do to win her over and when her life gets turned upside down, will she trust him enough to accept his help? This story has wonderful characters in which you care about what happens to them. There is action, mystery, arson, loan shark, kidnapping, and a blizzard with babies on the way. All this mixed with brothers who protect and love each other makeup this story. Also included are fuzzy dogs, a "Grandfather" and adorable Skyler. The story grabbed me immediately and held my attention until the happy ending. This is part of a series but each is a standalone with characters that interact.

While the relationship heats up between Mason and Danielle (now with twins on the way) they find themselves in for the fight of their lives to protect their family. The backstory is about Danielle and her ex husband. I loved it! I think the characters, story and dialogue were realistic other than a little artistic license :). My only negative here is Mason’s very rapid need to take care of and protect her. The insta love often found in this genre is a little off putting. I much prefer a slower build up to a relationship. All in all I enjoyed this book and hope you will too.

This done in one Kindle Unlimited book has a compelling whodunit element that keeps the pages turning as Danielle tries to figure out if she's overreacting, being paranoid, or if a nasty custody situation is more complex than she realizes.
