We met Rhys in the last book (Justified Misfortune) recuperating after being shot (not in the last book, but I get a feeling he might have been in a previous story) You don’t need to have read any of the other books, but I’m interested in other characters now. Rhys is a friend of Hudson’s, he staying with him and Sunny whilst he’s recuperating from a leg wound, he would have gone home, but didn’t need to babying his mother and sisters would insist on. Rhys is a friend of Hudson’s, he staying with him and Sunny whilst he’s recuperating from a leg wound, he would have gone home, but didn’t need to babying his mother and sisters would insist on. He’s also having a crisis of sorts, being shit has left him feeling a little out of sorts, he’s worried his gut feeling will let him down, and it could cost him his life or the life of the next person he’s looking after. Scarlett is new in town, getting the job of designing the interior of the Wellness Center was a big coup, if she can get more work here then she’s going to settle. But Scarlett has a secret, she’s being targeted! She’s not sure who or why, but it could set her back on the road! Scarlett and Rhys meet after she designs the cabin Hudson fixes up for Rhys. He finds out from Scarlett that she’s being stalked! So he offers his services, it should’ve take too long, then Rhys can move out and move on with his life.... Another murder/mystery story with just the right amount of romance theorem in for good measure. The book is a fast paced whodunnit story. The chemistry between the MC’s us fun to read. I’m getting the idea Rhys wants to settle down, but he’s also out to prove he can still do the job. Scarlett is great, she’s trying not to let the incidents that occur get her down, but they are making her jumpy, thank goodness Rhys believes her. Working out who the culprit is half the fun. The book is easily read in an afternoon, nicely written with attention to detail. I liked the element of surprise and the detective work that you have to put in. The romance between Rhys and Scarlett is electric. It’s also great catching up with a couple from a previous book. So can Rhys protect his newest job? Or will the killer get his next intended victim? 🦋

I have come to love both the Brotherhood Protectors series by Elle James as well as the “World” spinoff in which various follow the format and/or some of the characters of the original series. This story was no exception and one that introduced me to a “new” author I will continue to follow. Rhys Bennett, a former Navy SEAL and now a personal security specialist in a company that works primarily in the Middle East, is in Canyon Springs recovering from a leg injury incurred in his last mission. Rhys Bennett, a former Navy SEAL and now a personal security specialist in a company that works primarily in the Middle East, is in Canyon Springs recovering from a leg injury incurred in his last mission. This mission has left his with self-doubts. Will he be efficient in future missions? Did he do the right thing when the mission was a bust? Can he continue to protect others? Questions he still has no answers for. When he meets the interior designer that re-did the cabin his friend is lending him during his recovery, he is smitten. Scarlett Jones is a new resident of Canyon Springs. She left the tragedy of her past in California, and thanks to her friend Sunny, has started her new life by renovating not only the cabin but also a wellness center Sunny owns. But danger seems to follow Scarlett and Rhys is determined to protect her and keep her safe. As the danger escalates, so do the feelings between them. Will Rhys end up leaving town as planned? Will Scarlett survive the danger? As with other stories in both series, the plot was engaging , the characters complex and the romance hot. I have to confess I figured early on the “mystery”, but that did not deter from my enjoyment of the book. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Hidden Gems. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This story picks up close on the heels of the events from Justified Misfortune. You don’t have to have read that book first, but it helps with the understanding of some of the dynamics in this one. From the moment this story starts, I was hooked. It was easy to understand Scarlett’s confusion and fear. And the klutz in me could totally sympathize with the pain of her tailbone injuries. Rhys intrigued me in the previous book, and I was really hoping to see him get one of his own. This book does j This story picks up close on the heels of the events from Justified Misfortune. This book does justice to the strong, yet slightly grouchy, alpha protector I had started to fall in love with. Their chemistry is powerful, yet also quite sweet. I loved that the romance between them was a bit of a slower burn. And I adore that the mystery kept me guessing all the way to the big reveal. I have no idea what the author plans to offer us next, but I know that I can’t wait to read it. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Hidden Gems Books.

WOW! This is an absolutely terrific addition to the series that was originated by Elle James. This story centers on interior designer Scarlett Jones and former Navy Seal/Personal Security Specialist Rhys Bennett. It picks up right where Ms. Matthews first book in the Brotherhood Protectors series stopped. This is totally a stand-alone, but why deprive yourself! Read both. The suspense was spot on. The romance happened quickly but wasn’t rushed. I totally enjoyed this work.

The Christmas season is the backdrop for this engaging book, which made me carve Christmas cookies. Rhys Bennett is an ex-Navy SEAL who now works for a security firm. All though he is healed, his head is not back in the game. Scarlett Jones is an interior designer. This was a dream of her mother's to re-decorate the health center. Someone is trying to sabotage her efforts and also stalking her. She doesn't know who she can trust. Justified Burden grabbed me on page one and kept me riveted to the pages until the end of the story. Matthews created two main characters I liked, sizzling chemistry, a mystery that kept me guessing right up until the reveal, and emotional depth that had me fully invested in a happy ending. If you enjoy a quick, fast-paced story with a good balance of suspense and romance, I highly recommend Justified Burden. This is the second novella Matthews has written in the Brotherhood Protectors World. Tho Justified Burden grabbed me on page one and kept me riveted to the pages until the end of the story. I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book through Hidden Gems and I voluntarily chose to review it. I have been reading BrotherHood books for a long time and this one a great add to the World. With this one some of the old characters show up in minor roles. This is a well written story and the main characters are wonderful. I enjoyed this story and I think you will too. This one is worth your time. I truly think you will enjoy this book.

It's always a treat to lose yourself in the story and allow the drama to carry you away. While recovering from a war injury, Rhys is drawn into the trouble that Scarlett finds herself in. Will helping her help him to put into perspective his own demons? Will she provide the impetus needed for him to make a choice?
