4.5* – I love it when I go into a book for the sex and then get all sappy because there are also so many feelings. Amanda and Wren have been online besties for five years. Wren is a badass lingerie designer, impulsive and oh so cool. Amanda sees herself as the opposite of cool. Her nickname – which she hates – is the disco ball heiress. She does what is expected of her, endures her job at her family’s business in California and only rebels through her clothes, preferring vintage to anything her m 4.5* – I love it when I go into a book for the sex and then get all sappy because there are also so many feelings. Her nickname – which she hates – is the disco ball heiress. She does what is expected of her, endures her job at her family’s business in California and only rebels through her clothes, preferring vintage to anything her mother would rather she wore. Wren, on the other side, is not entirely happy with the “fun” label she’s often stuck with. Just because she loves to have fun doesn’t mean she can’t take things seriously, right? After years of daily messages, Wren convinces Amanda to come and celebrate New Year’s Eve with her and her friends at a resort in the middle of a snow-covered forest. Neither is prepared for what their meeting IRL will do to them. Party Favors is the fourth book in the So Over the Holidays series and the first f/f one. I usually like to read series in order but it didn’t seem necessary here. I did read the blurbs – two m/f, one m/m, which explains why I didn’t rush to read them, even though I’m now curious about these stories too – so I had an idea who Wren’s friends were and what they were into. Not that it matters so much to Wren and Amanda’s story but it was nice. From the reviews I’ve read, these books are hit or miss. I think it’s pretty obvious from the first sentence of this review that Party Favors was a complete hit for me. I loved everything. I loved the tone, I loved the setting, I loved the characters, I loved how sex-positive it all is (and the whole series, it seems). I loved how Wren seems to be in control of her life but lets her vulnerability show when it comes to Amanda, I loved that Amanda feels safe enough with Wren to ask for what she wants (repeatedly), I loved how hot the sex is and how genuine the emotions feel. I loved that both women are bisexual and it’s not just a label. I loved that after so many years of remote friendship, they know each other so well that it doesn’t take them long to realise a holiday fling will never be enough and yet they’re careful with each other. Their relationship is both fresh and established, exciting and tender, sweet and naughty. Complex and simple at the same time, as most successful love stories. And did I mention the sex is hot? Yeah, there’s that too. Merry Christmas. I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a very good erotica book not only because it delivers what it promises but also because it has a surprising character building and a very good off-the-bed relationship development. Whether you are reading it just for the sex or you love erotica with a side of romance, you won't be disappointed with this book. The sex is varied and hot and the romance is sweet and cute. If you enjoy Meghan O'Brien books, give this one a try. Even though it's a holiday novella, it's still fine to read off season. 4.5 stars. See all my reviews at www.lezreviewbooks.com

Party Favors was an absolute delight to read and I loved both Wren and Amanda. Erin McLellan excels at writing sexy romances with likable and relatable characters. While this romance does rely heavily on the foundation of friendship these two women already have, it still feels fresh for the reader because Amanda and Wren have never spent time together in person. They both go into the vacation with insecurities about how others perceive them and it was so much fun to watch them find someone who supports and sees them for who they really are. Amanda is tired of being seen as boring and quiet while Wren is tired of not being taken seriously because she's just the "fun one." These two balanced each other really well and I liked that Amanda appreciated and loved Wren because she was fun not in spite of it. They quickly develop feelings for each other but personal doubts have them each questioning if they can make it last past the vacation. I also enjoyed seeing some of the previous book couples like Benji and William and Rosie and Leo (my favorite!) and like the rest of the series I loved how sex-positive Party Favors was. Wren encouraged Amanda to be open with her desires and to know that asking for what you want and need is important. This was the perfect sexy and fun holiday read. This is part of a series and couples from other books feature prominently, particularly Benji and William from Candy Hearts. You can definitely enjoy without that context, however. This is a friends-to-lovers story with very engaging protagonists. I'm abandoning at just over halfway because the steam is just so high. I'll be tagging it as Erotica, though it's very well-written and the story is better structured than that implies. No rating because I frankly have no idea how to rate it. There is also such care and tenderness taken for her characters without ever sacrificing the heat and tension. Bonus points for the hottest hotel balcony sex on a chaise I've read in recent memory and luscious descriptions of both Amanda and Wren's clothes and lingerie styles. Also of note, Amanda has breast implants and they are part of her and it was great to see this portrayed in this way. Wren has difficulty orgasming without a vibrator and it is so fun to see how enthusiastically Amanda just hears this and accepts it. These novellas make me feel so taken care of. Thank you to the author for the advanced reading copy!

This was amazingly fun, flirty, sexy, and the perfect New Year’s read. If anyone knows how to have fun it’s wild and free Wren. She was something else entirely, introducing Amanda to a lifestyle and partying like nothing ever experienced before. Erin has created quite the getaway fantasy and kept it fresh, exciting and packed with thrills and unexpected experiences. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this as a novella but it is just as sparkly and fabulous as its cover. I had a great time reading this and can totally see why Amanda took the leap to go and meet Wren and experience something different. It was thrilling, intense, made me nervous and excited at the same time. Both characters just were made for each other, complimented one another nicely, and that wild, free party spirit Wren has really came out in Amanda when they were together. I can’t recommend this enough for a quick, fun, flirt with a party scene for New Year! And I hope we will see Wren and Amanda in future stories. They are great together, the comedy and humour that surrounds them really makes the story something more, and not only does it have cute memorable moments, but some hotter and steamier ones to. So they really did see the New Year in with a bang!

4.5 - A wonderfully steamy sapphic romance set during New Years. Erin McLellan is great at writing fully fleshed out characters who have interesting personal journeys on top of the romance. Amanda is sick of working for her family’s business and doing everything they expect of her while Wren is tired of being written off as only a wild, fun person. When they go on vacation together after years of online friendship, sparks definitely fly between them. But is it just sex or something more? The sex scenes in all the books in this series are excellent! I think it’s really cool how they incorporate toys and different sex acts that you don’t always see in romance novels. I also appreciate that her epilogues are good and not the over the top, cheesy type. I don’t know if Erin McLellan plans to write more novellas in this holiday romance series, but I hope she does. They’re just some really fun smutty romances.

I absolutely love this series! Each book is such a delight and this FF New Years Eve installment is no exception. Wren and Amanda’s friends-to-lovers story was the perfect blend of frothy fun and steamy goodness. And it’s because they have such a great friendship at the foundation that they each feel empowered to deal with their insecurities, which also leads to Amanda quitting her boring family-owned empire job and starting her own vintage clothing store. Also A+ use of sex toys and I was glad Wren didn’t magically stop needing toys to get off just because Amanda was now in the picture. It was also fun to see Benji, William, Leo, and Rosie—such a sexy group of friends. Character notes: Amanda is a 28 year old bisexual sales manager for her family’s company. She has fake breasts. Wren is a bisexual lingerie designer. She’s also in a roller derby league and has pierced nipples. They are both white. CW: alcohol

My brain knows how to forget the right things until the darkness rises and we need an outlet for all that too much/tightness in the brain. But, let’s see how it measures up and maybe I can remember why I signed on for it. Familiar faces crop up as my precious Benny and William are mentioned which made me remember I’ve got a favorite tale from this Authoress which means I’m now expecting only goodies but then, it’s a lesbian tale sooo…Oh well, let’s see. Amanda needs Wren so badly in her life that I’m getting nervous on her behalf. The weight of family expectations is bad enough, but add being a heiress to it and I can’t imagine it. Only for the most disastrous first-time meeting ever to occur. Wait while I try to close my mouth. Ack, be still my heart, which is difficult when you know what that kind of smile can do. You know, the one that leaves you breathless and you just know you’ll never be the same again. But that shift from virtual to real life will not be easy, especially when one is as close as these two have become online. Amanda is so brave for even agreeing to this even though there’s a disconnect that’s carrying a donkey’s load of awkwardness and has me embarrassed too. Then the hunt is underfoot as love sets out to break good intentions. Wren doesn’t realize her feelings yet nor does Amanda and I’m laughing while Lissandra is cackling as we set off in love’s wake to see what it shall unleash. I can’t believe I thought this was going to be another boring lesbian tale where they’re more like besties or even sisters than lovers. Which, by the way, why are so many lesbian romances like that? Like women don’t feel lust and desire as well. Or have I just been reading all the wrong ones because that crap is quite frustrating. Rant over. Then I come face to face with my dream sub. I want an Amanda. Oh, I didn’t start wanting a sub like this just now. It’s been since I was 15 years old and came across bdsm in a Harold Robbins tale. Got to love books. Amanda’s response as someone insistently tries to buy her a drink has me laughing in joy. For someone like me, who loves to go out alone from time to time and doesn’t want to be disturbed, it wasn’t until I read this that I realised that one of the reasons I don’t do it anymore is because I hate being mistaken for a hooker or a woman who’s looking to hook up. I have no issues with those who are either of the aforementioned things (by the way, it might be weird but I respect hookers. It takes balls of steel to step into such a life and I always respect people who are capable of things I can’t do), but you know there’s a problem when you would rather drink at home than frequent your favorite bar just because men will not leave you be. Aaaarrrggghhh, can men just learn to do the whole ‘initiate eye contact 3 times’ and if there’s no invitation they stay in their seats? And can women stop playing games so that men stop believing that ‘No’ just means the woman wants to be chased harder? This scene lays down what gender equality is all about and that’s the ability to have a choice. Okay, rant over. Its saddening to see that Amanda doesn’t think she’s beautiful because she’s got surgical add-ons in certain places but one should never have to feel ashamed for their idea of beauty. What counts is that when YOU look into the mirror, YOU like what you see. Anyone who can’t deal with that is not for you. Society and its mixed messages annoy me to the inth. First, you need to look like a Barbie doll but oh, wait, you should be born like that and not have to get it outside of nature. Barbie’s very existence is outside of nature, dammit! Rant over. And then Wren pulls out one of my own lines and I’ve never heard anyone else say it or read it in a book. Ever. No, I won’t tell you because I need to practise how to use the tears of my readers as fuel. You know, in case the muse blesses me and I ever become an Authoress. You already know the size gap is slaying me. Wren is way wilder than I can ever hope to be but she mirrors my sentiments so well. I would love to have my boy days and girl nights, both with near drag worthy makeup and hair but still want Her to see the soul beneath all that which is basically just armor. I fell inlove with Wren’s need to spell everything out and I’m taking more notes because this is how you get proper consent in every way. Wren, ah feel you. But isn’t it just amazing how the mind deludes itself so perfectly while the heart puts on sunblock, stretches out in the sun and waits for the come to the goddess moment? Also, do you remember being told not to eavesdrop? Forget about that for all is fair in love and war. Goddess, it’s suddenly so easy to figure out why there’s such a lack of sexual satisfaction in relationships. How many times do you have a lover that reads your body like it’s screaming? How do you know what to ask for when you don’t even know what you like? I’m taking notes fast as I learn delicious things. Wren’s moves got moves and that dirty talk is so on point, sweet and dirty yet so romantic. I’m dying of jealousy here and I can’t even decide who I’m more jealous of. Then, the waterworks unleash without warning, letting go of all the anxiety I have been feeling without realising I was anxious for my ladies as they realise they don’t want to be apart nor do they need to be to know how valuable what they have is. The airport scene finished me off as these two begin the process of effortlessly blending into each other’s lives. Now I know. I’m jealous of both of them for finding their perfect goddess. Envy slayeth moi! Verdict? A comfort keeper of a tale that’s a constant reminder that love can be scary, embarrassing, awkward, drenched in desire, and disguised as friendship but it’s so worth every skipped heartbeat!

I adore this series. It’s adorable, kinky and sex-positive and I have loved every single one of these couples over the past year. This is the fourth in the holiday-themed series, and while it could be read as a stand-alone, you’d miss a lot of the backstory (and in-jokes) with the other couples. Amanda may be the disco ball heiress, but working for her family’s glassware company and getting roped into endless dates with eligible men picked out by her mother is anything but fun. She’d much rather be home in her pajamas texting with her friend Wren, who she originally bonded with over a vintage pattern. Wren’s the complete opposite of serious don’t-rock-the-boat Amanda – she loves having a good time and isn’t afraid to be a little crazy. When Wren suggests Amanda blow off her mom’s charity shindig and come spend New Year’s Eve with her and her friends, Amanda jumps at the chance to be a little more like her best friend. But what she doesn’t expect is that her feelings for her friend don’t stay just friendly. But with only a few days until she goes back home, can anything happen between Amanda and Wren? “I’m happy. I’m on vacation, so there’s a bit of unreality to the whole thing. Like consequences don’t exist. And … I’ve always respected your ability to live in the moment. I want to live in the moment. I want to have fun, Wren.” “You’re going to be rash and act without a plan or regard to consequences? You’re me in this scenario?” This is a novella, so I loved that Wren and Amanda already had a history together. Even with that though, they had to figure out how to go from texting constantly with each other to communicating in real life. It was super sweet and believable, and I loved that the big moment happened over text – even with how close they’d gotten, it was believable to me that they’d still need to do that in the way they first got to know each other. While Wren was very comfortable in her own sexuality (and already aware that she had a huge crush on her), Amanda was a little more bowled over by her attraction to Wren, but her inexperience was something that was handled gently by Wren. Because while everyone seemed to think Wren was just wild and crazy, she actually brought a lot to the relationship with Amanda, especially with showing Amanda how to be vulnerable and open. Everyone else assumed that she couldn’t settle down; Amanda, by contrast, loves how fun she is. For her, that’s an intrinsic part of why she likes Wren, not something to like her in spite of. “William made me listen to a crime podcast where the murder weapon was a disco ball. They’re dangerous and sparkly. You should own it.” William cleared his throat. “That was a lava lamp, babe.” I loved getting to see previous couples, especially Wiliam and Benji, who were serious comedic relief. Plus, there were lots of silly New Year’s related puns (including multiple references to the title). As for heat level, it’s exactly as steamy as you’d expect, and Wren and Amanda have amazing chemistry. Overall, I loved seeing another Rebello sibling fall in love, and I seriously hope there are more novellas in this series! I received an advance review copy of this book from A Novel Take PR. If you are looking for a sexy holiday-themed read, then this book will definitely satisfy. It’s a fast paced, easy-to-read novella with a whole lotta sizzle. Party Favors is the fourth installment to the So Over the Holidays series by McLellan. Even though it is a part of a series, it can be enjoyed as a stand alone. This novella is essentially a fun and flirty piece, but it is theme-driven and nicely structured. It’s technically classified as a contemporary holiday romance, but be aware: it does push boundaries and venture into the land of “naughty” with its talk of sex toys and sexual exploration. If explicit sex and explicit language are not your thing, then this book might not be a good choice for you. However, if you do enjoy LGBTQ erotic romances filled with delightful, fun-loving characters searching for love, then Party Favors should be placed in your “to be read” pile. McLellan is known to write happily-ever-afters that are earthy, emotional, humorous, and yes, sexy. Her characters are often complex, goodhearted and quirky. This story is no different. Both Wren and Amanda are likable characters that readers can appreciate. Wren is charming and engaging, while Amanda is a bit more shy and reserved. However, when the two get together, the flames of desire burn hot! Wren brings out things in Amanda that she didn’t even know she needed. The two share a chemistry that is enthralling, for sure. Their journey to love provides for entertaining reading, no doubt. I would recommend this book to any reader that likes a steamy romance. The story flows nicely and the characters are layered and dynamic. All of this lends itself quite nicely to an enjoyable and engaging read. It’s the perfect book to treat yourself to during the holidays. Strengths… Complex, original characters Nice story flow Steamy scenes

Wren and Amanda have been text besties for five years and never met! I love this concept, and in this world we live in, could be entirely believable. But now they finally get to meet, and all those friendship feelings burst out into more... but can either of them trust the other, given how messed up their previous relationships have been? This is a very sexy, sensual romance, with some really fun moments and the stripping of more than just inhibitions! For a short story there is plenty to hold one's interest, and I loved the ending – thank you, Erin McLellan, for another great story in this series! I’ve loved every novella in Erin McLellan’s So Over the Holidays series, so when I learned this new release was a New Year’s F/F story I could not have been more excited. What a gift to close out 2020! Wren and Amanda have become close friends after corresponding online for five years. Amanda impulsively decides to ditch her family’s expectations and travel to a New Year’s getaway with Wren and her friends. After finally meeting in person, sparks fly between them right away and things heat up very quickly. Erin writes scorchingly hot sex scenes with vulnerability and, often, accessories. The friend group we’ve gotten to know over the course of the series welcomes new friends into the fold and encourages partners to get together, often while enabling the fulfillment of sensual and sexual desires. The short nature of Amanda’s visit combined with year-end reflections and resolutions serves as a perfect set up for Amanda’s accelerated exploration of her bisexuality within this novella. This friends to lovers story with only one bed is SO HOT and I found the ending really emotionally satisfying. This could easily stand alone, but it was fun to see more of the characters from prior releases in this series. This is especially true for Benji and William, who I absolutely loved in Candy Hearts! If you like high heat, I would definitely recommend this series. ARC provided by A Novel Take PR in exchange for an honest review. Available now in KU!
