3+ stars rounding up as it is very well done for a short story. A somewhat typical start to an end-of-the-world scenario turns into an intense survival story. The flashbacks to 2020 were intriguing. The few sexy scenes were very hot. I enjoy this author's work. I can't tell if this is the start of a series, or just an idea she wanted to pursue. 3+ stars rounding up as it is very well done for a short story. I really enjoyed this book! Very interesting heroine to follow. I loved looking at who she was before the virus and then seeing afterwards how she changed and managed to survive on her own for so long. Xavion was an awesome hero. The mutants super creeped me out, so much that as I was reading in bed and the cat hopped up it made me jump LOL.

HUMANITY’S ENDGAME by Eve Langlais Nearly 3 Stars, as noted in my review below - the genre was a miss, not the book. The genre is a one I generally avoid but the blurb and the cover caught my attention. Five years after “the end” Cecelia/FMC, a 20-something, urbanite and former dental office receptionist is barely surviving, alone and in fear. While running from a threat, she falls off a rooftop and lands, literally, in the arms of a stranger, Xavion/MMC. Can he be trusted, or might he increase her danger? Where has he been hiding? Who and what does he know? HUMANITY’S ENDGAME is a novella that I read in a few hours which is perfect for readers looking for a quick read. I believe those that enjoy Dystopian novels might like HUMANITY’S ENDGAME very much. I wanted to like it. I love the cover, the fact that Cecelia persevered, that Xavion was a honorable guy, and that together Cecelia and Xavion were a team. But apparently Dystopian stories are too depressing for my tastes - even with a HEA. I do enjoy Fantasy, Space Opera Romance, and some Shifter novels so I thought I’d give ENDGAME a shot. Yet since the COVID lockdown, I have been craving a larger diet of “light, escapism” novels than ever before. So the genre just wasn’t a fit for me. Almost too depressingly possible. *READER CAUTIONS - VIOLENCE - Sci-fi, Dystopian PG/PG-13. PROFANITY - Yes. Strong language is used somewhat frequently. SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. Both thoughts and several steamy scenes of intimacy. *Not recommended to readers who prefer Clean fiction, nor to YA readers.

Not an alien romance 3.5 ⭐ I was under the impression this would be an alien romance. It wasn't. However, i did enjoy the story and I'm happy with how it ended. The only thing I wanted more of was some backstory to X and the hunting crew. The story surrounded only Sia and was one sided. I wished we could've known what X was thinking through some of the more dangerous situations they were in. Not an alien romance 3.5 ⭐ I was under the impression this would be an alien romance.
