DNF at 23% no rating as I did not finish this story Unfortunately, Once Upon a Werewolf was not a winner for me. I found the heroine to be beyond silly and a little too hopeless. I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be humorous but it missed the mark with me and had me rolling my eyes in frustration instead. I also seem to have picked up a few 'cat lady' books recently, and with a high allergy to cats, I found it hard to relate. The characters are wonderfully quirky. The mystery is well-developed, moves at a quick pace, and is full of twists and turns. The storyline has something for everyone: comedy, romance, paranormal, and pets. I look forward to the next book in the series. I received a copy of this book at my request, and I have voluntarily left this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Tails from the Alpha Art Gallery series written by Cynthia St. Aubin. This was such a great book, I kept me reading way past my bedtime! She finally has a good paying job which she loves even though everyone at the gallery is a little strange. When her boss’s lady friends start turning up dead with their throats ripped out she start to get worried and is wondering if she is next. Her sexy boss is also acting strange and she starts looking at signs thinking he might be a werewolf. This book kept me guessing until the end on who the killer was, and then left me wondering what is going to happen next in Hanna’s life. I can’t wait until the second book in this series comes out. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. I can’t wait for the next book by this awesome author!

My review : When bodies began to pile up around her new boss, a woman has to wonder if she might be next ... As I said a few days ago, I very rarely read contemporary romance, but as this one has a paranormal side, I jumped to discover what all the fuss was about it. First, this book ends on a cliffhanger, how I hate cliffhangers but I knew when I purchased this book, it might be a trilogy or more, my brain is not sure anymore, and now I will have to bite my nails for some time until the next installment. This is a story told in the first person. I liked Hanna and her antics but at time she annoyed me, yet I can also relate, I read shifters books, not she! So yes, between the title and the cover, it is no spoiler to say her boss is a werewolf and women seem to have a tendency to die when he is in the area. Why with a cop urging her to give him insights about her new boss, plus his various quirks which put him immediately on top of the suspects list, not easy for a woman a bit lost to think straight. And a chicken when exposed to a wolf, it does not think anymore, it runs... And running she does, forgetting to balance everything she knows for what it could be. I confess it is this aspect of her personality I was not fond of, she does not listen, she falls easily in the traps lined for her, I know her strength is no match with paranormal creatures but she jumped so readily in the web expressly woven for her, when she has a brain and could have used it. As it is a one side point of view read, it is more difficult to talk about Abernathy, yet from the very beginning I loved him. Sure he is a walking enigma but he is kind, patient and caring. Why I disliked Hanna for immediately pointing her fingers towards him. Morrison is to me the rebound guy, the one to confort Hanna she is still an attractive woman. But only the next books will give the answers but I do hope it will not be a love triangle, there is nothing I dislike more than this trope. 4 stars for this fun read, and now I have to wait to see what happen next and with what man will Mrs St. Aubin tie Hanna. I was granted a free copy by the author but purchased my own. Here is my true and unbiased opinion. Last note : Never went to the Meurice hotel but I totally agree with getting lost in a fromagerie. https://www.facebook.com/429830134272...

    Smart Women Read Romance

Warning: this book does not have an HEA. This is a trilogy with the romance playing out over the course of the series. Hanna is a bit of a hot mess heroine, but her quirkiness really grew on me! She's a recent divorcée trying to squeak by on the minimum. Meaning she has no qualms about fibbing a little on her resume to get a job at an art gallery. This is a light and fun read with tons of quirky characters from the mains themselves to the resident artists living at the gallery. One thing I didn't love was the love triangle element. It felt completely unnecessary since we know that Hanna and Abernathy will end up together by the end of the series. (view spoiler)[ I really hated that Hanna and Morrison slept together. It makes me not want to read the next one if he is a prominent love interest again. (hide spoiler)]

Cynthia St. Aubin has me hooked on this series already and I'm eagerly awaiting the next book. She has a way of writing that just sucks you right into the story. The little bombshell left at the end of this one has me all excited for what is to come.

Had this been a Guess What the Author Will Do quiz - so failed. Yaaasss!!! This series is NOTHING, absolutely nothing of what I expected and absolutely EVERYTHING I wanted. How to describe OUaW: Contemporary paranormal fantasy with sparkly flecks of Nancy Drew, Murder She Wrote, Ripper Street, Penny Dreadful - topped with freshly squeezed comedic romance, super stinky road trips, ex-husband smackdowns, sufficient cat lady llama drama, and liberally laced with smoking hot, steamy (cover your eyes with generous peeking room) sexcapades. *Note - Jameson whiskey reference on page 144... it's the little things... my heart is embarrassingly full💚 *Note - Scooby-Doo reference on page 233 - Best cartoon ever (besides Smurfs)📺 *Note - Donuts... Once Upon a Werewolf Amazingly good book, great character development, very visual storytelling! Her eye for detail is fantastic, I am not an art connoisseur, but her descriptive writing has me wanting to see what she sees in paintings, and the story itself kept me giggling, but anxiety ridden too! How she managed to write such a good story, with a serious plot(murder) and still fill it with humor and snark is amazing. Definitely 5 star worthy!

Loved the snark Ok, Hanna and her snarkiness were hands down the best things about this book. I'll admit, I wavered between trusting Abernathy or hoping Morrison caught him, but midway through the book, started to like him. Kinda ditto with Morrison. I liked him, but thought he was too hard on Hanna, then liked him again. Down on her luck Hanna. Newly divorced, in depth and about to be evicted, her last shot is to find a job at an art studio. Not quite experienced enough for the job, Abernathy still hired her. The super sexy boss, a suspect in a murder case that the hot detective she rear ended earlier in the morning was determined to solve, that she wasn't sure she could trust, but who saved her bacon with a job she really, really needed.I After a business trip to Germany, she starts to suspect something is off with her boss, but can't bring herself to believe what the clues are alluding to until the deal really hits the fans. I really got into this one. Hanna had me laughing more than once. I'm usually not a fan of love triangles, but even I am having a hard time choosing between these two.

I read this book on a whim, totally by chance after coming across it. I know I'm in love with a book when, after putting it down for the night, I'm STILL thinking about the storyline and the characters. That was the case with this book. I absolutely loved this book! I was in a paranormal rut and have been gone for awhile. Fell into a highlander blackhole. I downloaded this book for a camping trip where I might not have wifi, started reading on the drive and every chance I got I was looking at my phone, thank you kindle app. Yes, there was an ocean and some old fort and family bonding, but there also a very entertaining book that I couldn't stop thinking about. The banter is this book was the kind that I love. A smart mouth redhead with a love for cheese and her cats? Sign me up. Although, I could see why this is the starter book for the series because it takes forever for the truth to come out. NOW, I will say that the ending and a handful of things that happened prior, they caught me by surprise. Enough that I happily bought the second book to continue the journey.
