I immediately began reading Music for a Merman by Alice Renaud, after finishing Book I, A Merman’s Choice. I was so enchanted with the world Alice created, I had to know what comes next. I love that, without looking at the blurbs, I anticipated it would be Rob Regan’s story to be told next and I am really looking forward to it. Rob Regan is a rookie cop….and a merman. I love how Alice Renaud incorporated our current social media and click happy culture. These touches of realism add those elements that make a book special to me. Oh yeah. I am buckling my seatbelt for a bumpy ride, when I visualized Charlie’s seductive smile. I think Rob will have his hands full and I anticipate some laughs along with some lovin’. I love that Alice Renaud created characters that are opposite of the characters in Book I, A Merman’s Choice. It keeps the stories fresh and exciting. I do love a spunky, flirtatious, snarky girl having fun with the shy, naive, hunkalicious cop. Even though I know where we’re going, Alice Renaud throws in a surprise or two along the way to a happy ever after. Who’s next? We have done two of the three clans, so I foresee someone from the Dooran Clan being spotlighted next. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Music for a Merman by Alice Renaud. I loved the MC, mainly because Charlie is so confident. That sometimes lacks in a female main character, the confidence, the spunk, the determination. I loved every minute of it! Also, of course, loved Rob too, but how can you not? A sexy cop that’s ALSO a merman?? Jeez, be still my heart The story is well thought out and paces nicely, especially since it’s a novella, so it’s on the shorter side. I usually steer clear of novellas, but this one ticked all the boxes for me. I love paranormal romanc I loved the MC, mainly because Charlie is so confident. It’s also the quality of writing, which is excellent–I always have problems with showing vs telling, and Alice has it down to an art. I definitely learned a few things and plan on writing my own mermaid tail…oops, TALE too!

What an enchanting love story! Book 2 of the Sea of Love series has it all: forbidden love, passion, insurmountable obstacles, heartache, and a big twist in the end. I loved Book 1 - A Merman's Choice, but I think I love Book 2 more. Ms. Renaud builds a magical world of merman and mermaids that makes you want to visit the Welsh Islands in search of these beings. The characters are well developed, the plot is captivating, and the descriptions put you right in the middle of the action. I recommend i What an enchanting love story! I have been anticipating this book for awhile, and Renaud did not disappoint. The book opened with Rob, a sexy merman, who is working undercover as a cop. He has to arrest Charlie, a spunky and adorable protestor, and their initial interaction was hysterical. Renaud created two very likable characters in Rob and Charlie. You can't help but pull for them as they fall in love and struggle with family issues. As usual, there are some great visuals and references to the sea. I particularly liked Renaud's mention of refloating dolphins. Who knew? She also had some great character descriptors. One particularly noteworthy one was when she described Charlie as "a little incendiary device." And holy Moses, who knew mermans were so well endowed? Lol. This is a fast-paced and exciting read that effortlessly weaves in the magical quality of music. It is short and sweet, but toward the end it takes a dramatic turn you won't see coming. Ultimately it is a book about love and resolving family hurts. I highly recommend it. You will find yourself looking for a glimpse of a merman in the water on your next beach trip. I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book, but I believe it will be releasing on Amazon soon.

I picked up the book intrigued by the blurb. It's the first book by Ms. Renaud that I have read. Music for a Merman is the second book in the Sea of Love series, and I really enjoyed the story. I confess, I have not read book 1, which did not matter, but I do intend to grab a copy because I enjoyed the author's writing style so much. Stories about cops – and the ‘bad girls’ that get busted by them – are the age-old stock of romance novels... Not this cop, though, and certainly NOT this ‘bad girl’! Alice Renaud’s ‘Music for a Merman’ is a breathtaking tale. Like its predecessor ‘A Merman’s Choice’, it’s set on the Welsh coastline. Alice’s hero Rob Regor is a kind soul, but one stuck in a rather untenable position: His father is the irascible, xenophobic chieftain of his merman clan, and Rob has been placed on the police force Stories about cops – and the ‘bad girls’ that get busted by them – are the age-old stock of romance novels... Alice’s heroine Charlie is one tough cookie… at least at a glance. 'Music for a Merman' is the story of Charlie letting down her walls as Rob finds a way to balance his love with his duties, both to his clan and the law. Like 'A Merman’s Choice' and the upcoming 'Mermaids Marry in Green', 'Music for a Merman' is an easy read for a lazy afternoon… So I highly suggest ordering it, and freeing up an afternoon!

Rob Regor is St-Sulien's newest police constable and for his first arrest he has to deal with a eco-terrorist who is trying to halt progress on beachfront development in the Welsh town. Once he literally carries the problem away from the construction site, he realizes that Charlotte Fitzwilliam is no ordinary woman. Once he literally carries the problem away from the construction site, he realizes that Charlotte Fitzwilliam is no ordinary woman. She sends an electric current through him and beguiles him with her wit and beauty. Of course, he's no ordinary constable. He's a merman of the Regor Clan, sent to the mainland in order to report back on what the humans are doing. Unfortunately, Charlie seems to have an inordinate interest in the inhabitants of the Morvann Islands, so Rob is drawn to her and then repelled, lest he reveal any secrets about himself or his clan. Rob's father hates humans and has carried forward the generational warnings against fraternizing with humans in order to keep the Merman gene pool pure. When Rob gives Charlie up and so protect her from his father, he creates a song for her that tells of his love for her. He sings it in the sea and from far off, Charlie hears it. This is a feat only soul mates can perform. When they come together, it's with the hope they can find a way for their love to grow, but fate steps in, in several different ways. One of those was a great twist! This is Ms. Renaud's second book in her Sea of Love series and liked it very much. For some reason, I tend to enjoy second books in a series a little better than first books. Maybe it's because all of the introductions of primary characters and locations are already done. I liked this book a bit more than The Merman's Choice because the conflict seemed stronger. The hero and heroine are both great in Music for a Merman. This is a fast read—read it in one evening—and enjoyed every minute. The only reason I gave it 4.5 stars instead of a full 5 is that there were a few loose ends. But they didn't diminish my pleasure. Recommended!!

Music for a Merman by Alice Renaud is a sweet, clever story featuring Rob Regor, a merman warrior investigating the crimes humans commit against other species at the behest of his father, Rhys Regor, and Charlotte Fitzwilliam (Charlie), an Eco-warrior. Charlie and Rob had a major attraction to each other right from the start. Only it was a forbidden attraction because Rob was a Merman and Charlie was a human. There was and ancient legend that said that every merman had a mate somewhere, who was the other half of his soul. Rob was afraid that someone was Charlie. Only he couldn't risk being put back in prison by his stern old fashioned father. I loved this story, and I couldn't put it down. I'm sure you'll love it too. Once again, Ms Renaud has written a fun, easy story set in the mystical world of the mermen and mermaids of the Morvann Islands. The pleasure of a sequel is the familiarity we as readers feel when we come across characters we’ve met in the first book of the series and that happens here and the world being created by the author is a little fuller too, adding to the enjoyment. As with the first in this series, I was left wanting more backstory, more world building and just more in general. Being a novella though, that isn’t possible here but there’s certainly enough in each story so far to expand the mermen’s world into something three times a novella’s size. Well done.
