I have an air fryer and always look for recipes to use with it. I have done a variety of things to actually making chicken to heating up egg rolls. I have also used it for hard boiled eggs, works great for that. This cookbook has recipes for healthy eating, instead of doing deep frying. There are 75 recipes from breakfast to desserts. Can you imagine making Blueberry Breakfast Cobbler in an air fryer? Well you can. There are a lot of breakfast recipes, sides and snacks, like Roasted zucchini and I have an air fryer and always look for recipes to use with it. Well you can. There are a lot of breakfast recipes, sides and snacks, like Roasted zucchini and Rosemary Sweet Potato Chips. So many great looking recipes. An air fryer cooks the food so fast and that is a great thing for when you don't have a lot of time. The recipes are concise and easy to read, with cooking tips to help with the recipe. Now the fact that this is a vegan cookbook should not deter the person who is not vegan, like me. There are a lot of recipes in this cookbook that I would and will try! There is a section in the back of the book that has a vegan food chart, tells you how long to cook your veggies etc. I think this cookbook is a great help and will benefit the person, vegan or not who has an airfryer, looking for new recipes.

It seems as though once air fryers hit the market everyone on a quest to lose weight or get healthy jumped on the bandwagon to purchase the latest and greatest model. I have to be honest. I am not one of those people who rush right out to get the newest appliance. In fact, I'm probably the person who may wait and buy it at a yard sale if I'm really convinced I need one. Although I do have a friend who swears by them, does FB live videos using hers, and posts pics of the food afterwards. I am not one of those people who rush right out to get the newest appliance. In fact, I'm probably the person who may wait and buy it at a yard sale if I'm really convinced I need one. Although I do have a friend who swears by them, does FB live videos using hers, and posts pics of the food afterwards. I also have a relative who has one and I was not impressed with the food prepared for us in her air fryer. For these reasons I did request a free copy of the book from the publisher to aid in my decision one way or the other. Since I don't yet have an air fryer I will get with a friend who does to try the recipes in the book. As far as the book the author states you should "feel like a pro after cooking your way through this book". I am a good test candidate for this since I have not yet prepared anything with an air fryer. I must say the forward and introduction are very convincing that you must add an air fryer to your collection of kitchen equipment. Chapter 1 "Air Fryer Basics" is good for the beginner and possibly helpful in choosing an air fryer that is best for the reader. There are some helpful hints and FAQs for additional information, especially for the less experienced cook. A very short list of pantry and spice rack staples is included. I'm not a vegetarian but I do know there are so many more choices if you choose that route to nourish your body. So on to the recipes. There is a nice variety of interesting recipes. They sound very appetizing and I'm looking forward to tasting them. What I liked most when looking at the recipes was the ingredients were in a different color print and easy to read. The coding system for the recipes is helpful for a busy person or someone who needs to find a fast, family friendly, or gluten free. I doubt that the colors related to amount of fat in the recipes is useful, mostly because of the color choice. Most information on healthy food and diets uses the stoplight colors of red, yellow, and green. Here the author uses green, blue, and purple. Why? Recipes include prep and cooking time as well as nutritional information. The author does explain why odd baking temperatures are listed. This could be a disaster for someone who does not read the paragraph in FAQs about cooking temperatures of different air fryers. Who really reads FAQs unless they have a problem? More information on cooking temperatures and times would be helpful. I found many of the recipes inconvenient as you needed to go to another recipe, read and prepare it as it is an ingredient of the main recipe you wish to prepare. If I want to make the Panang Curry Bowl I have to find the recipe for the tofu several pages farther in the book. The curry bowl requires 15 minutes prep time and 20 minutes cook time, not counting the time for the rice or noodles I need to go with it. Then I am adding another 18 to 30 minutes for prep and cook time depending on which tofu recipe I choose as one of the ingredients for the recipe. Also, if I thought I would have most of what I needed based on following the pantry lists I would definitely not be able to come home from work and prepare this recipe without planning and shopping ahead. Another concern I have, if I am new to air fryers and choose this book by the title with the word "essential" I would think the book would contain everything I need to help me through the journey. How would I know if my finished product is what it should be if there are no pictures? More and more cookbook authors are using food photos to separate their chapters leaving the reader in limbo when they need to know what the finished product should look like. I find it much easier to go to the internet and search for a recipe where I'm going to see a picture of the finished product. As I said, before I go out and purchase and air fryer I will get with a friend who has one and try the recipes. I might surprise myself.

Things to look for when you go about using your air fryer. She had helpful cooking tips. I also appreciated her FAQ section. Staples in pantry – oil spray - she spent a whole page on talking about this topic I found fascinating. In the Breakfast section I had no idea you could make banana bread, banana churro oatmeal and blueberry, breakfast cobbler in air fryer. Each recipe has the serving size, prep time, bake time, Nutritional breakdown (no sugar listed) There is an intro to the recipe by author. On the bottom of the recipe is an Ingredient tips, Air fryer tips - Substitution tip – cooking tips, and Variation Tip. The instructions are Easy to read with readily available ingredients. I liked that the list of ingredients are in a different color than the regular text. It stood out and made it easy to read. The author also color codes recipes that are Family-Friendly, Gluten-free, Fast, and/or can be Fried/Baked/Roasted. Green – means low fat and sugar Fast means 30 minutes or less Blue means richer recipe still healthy Purple fairly high in fat and/or sugar – minimal conception for most people – 2 -3 servings per week. Something new for me was Chickpea flour (garbanzo bean) – very interesting. I love discovering new ways to use the Air Fryer. The recipes I made, and my family enjoyed were Addictive Zucchini Sticks, Garlic Roasted Cauliflower, Roasted Broccoli and Loved the Sweet Miso-Glazed Brussels Sprouts. My family and I were not fond of the Asian Buffet Bowl with Crisp Tofu. (I’m not fond of Tofu on a good day. but this sounded good I thought I’d liked – Not!) Grin! I look forward to trying more recipes in the book. My only disappointment is that there were not very many color pictures of food inside. Possibly worth noting: the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents including hyperlinks in the text. The foreword, introduction, and introductory tutorials take up ~17% of the page content and cover different types of fryers, the purpose and scope of the book's recipes (75, though I didn't count specifically). The author also includes a handy comparison chart for currently available makes and models. This should be helpful for readers wanting to purchase a unit who need some guidance on which one to choose. The recipes themselves are arranged by category: Breakfasts & Breads, Sides & Snacks, Main Dishes, Desserts, and Staples. There are also a number of resources and charts at the end of the book including further reading, measurement conversion charts, serving sizes and others. If I had any quibbles with this book, I would have suggested more serving suggestions and/or photography. There are -very- few photographs in the eARC I was given for review purposes. I love the air fryer concept and these recipes are tasty. We tried (and liked): Panang Curry Bowl, Apple Crisp, and Pasta with Creamy Cauliflower Sauce. Most of the recipes are pretty easy to make with easily sourced ingredients. At the end of the day, they -taste- good and satisfy my family (and we aren't veg*n at all, just trying to live a little bit healthier and more sustainably). Four stars. Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Seventy-five yummy recipes are included in Essential Vegan Air Fryer Cookbook. I’ve had an air fryer for years that I have used solely for potato and carrot fries. The twelve scrumptious recipes include: • Chocolate cake • Chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin cookies • Caramelized apples • Apple or strawberry puffs • Raspberry lemon streusel cake • Pineapple upside-down cake • Blackberry peach cobbler The Essential Vegan Air Fryer Cookbook is the perfect cookbook for the newly vegan or gluten-free cook, and/or owners of an air fryer. Many of the recipes are ideal for parties and office potlucks too. The only negative is that there is not a picture for every recipe. Other than that, it clearly deserves 5 stars! Almost all of the ingredients in the recipes should be easy to get or have a substitute that's easy to get. The author said that most of the recipes used around 1 teaspoon of oil (though she often uses an oil spray on the food, which is harder to measure and will vary between users). The author started by explaining why a person would chose to use an air fryer (rather than an oven or deep fat fryer), what to look for when buying one, the basics of using one, and some tips for successful outcomes. She also explained how you can use the air fryer to bake and roast food, not just fry it. I got this book hoping to expand my use beyond making fries and baked apples, and it did that. Still, she did provide recipes for many kinds of fries and chips. She liked to combine recipes--use this recipe as a part of this one or combine these two to make this recipe. She included 16 recipes in the breakfast and breads section, 20 in sides and snacks, 20 for main dishes, and 12 for deserts (cookies, cakes, bars), plus 9 recipes for "staples" like sauces and dressings (which don't necessarily use the air fryer). Each recipe included "per serving" information on calories, total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates, fiber, protein. There were only a few pictures showing what a finished dish looked like. I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

There are some negatives to The Essential Vegan Air Fryer Cookbook. The recipes are not all that complicated and some use other methods for cooking the main dish, using the air fryer to make the garnish. Because we tend to eat with our eyes, it would have been beneficial to have photographs of the finished dishes. For example, those new to the air fryer would not necessarily know how vegetables would look after being cooked. The word "essential" in the title is a little misleading, as I was expecting more from the cookbook because of this. Overall, The Essential Vegan Air Fryer Cookbook is a good resource for those looking to get ideas about an air fryer and its benefits. I am hesitant to recommend it because there are many air fryer cookbooks out there that are more comprehensive.

Recipes are noted as being gluten-free, fast (under 30 minutes start to finish) or likely to be enjoyed by non-vegans and/or kids. Nutritional information is given for each recipe along with color coding marking recipes that are lower in fat and natural sugars, richer foods or those higher in fats and/or sugars. There's a good variety of recipes included. I found so many recipes I'd like to try, I may have to finally splurge and pick up an air fryer for myself. I do wish dry ingredients were listed by weight, but this isn't such a disappointment as it would be with a baking cookbook. It is one thing for a recipe to sound good, but to make the jump to actually using it, I need to see pictures. So many people are visual when it comes to making meals that I am surprised that this book only has a couple pictures with how well done the rest of the book is. I'm not taking off as many stars since I loved the rest of the book, but please, get some more pictures! It would definitely be a 5 star if there were pictures for each of the recipes instead of one for every 20.

I bought this because I wanted something that I could use to make vegetarian food, and I figured that Vegan wasn't hugely different from vegetarian... not exactly... but this is a really good resource. I like the way that each recipe is colour coded, and I like the fact that I don't have to buy a massive amount of additional equipment. I learned a lot from a read through, and I am happy to put it into practice soon. I recently discovered that I own an air fryer and am excitedly learning how to use it. (I have so far only managed to destroy some cinnamon rolls.) So a cookbook is a good thing for me to have right now.
