Jerry Mintz gives a nice introduction to the topic. It doesn't get very deep, but it is a quick a read. The greatest value of the book is Jerry's survey of the different education alternatives and the options for democracy in education. That said, one wouldn't think of Jerry as having such strong opinions, I've never seen him as meek but he seems more apologetic than what he aparently is. A nice overview of his take on democratic schools. He's visited so many and tells their stories. Very helpful for learning what is needed to really do a democratic/alternative school.
