This was a short book that gives us a lot of information on the life of a woman known to history as a great beauty. Cleopatra was more than just a beautiful and powerful woman. She was also a highly intelligent woman who spoke multiple languages. She was ambitious and observant of those around her. And yes, she was a woman who knew how to use all of her assets to get what she desired. I learned a great deal about Cleopatra that I hadn’t known before reading this book. It was well written and the further I got into reading about her life, the more interested I became in learning more about her. If you’re interested in learning more about Cleopatra, her life, and her family, give this book a chance. It’s a quick read with a lot of information that is presented in a way that will keep you reading until the end without leaving you feeling overwhelmed or like you are reading a school textbook.

A quick synopsis of the life of Cleopatra, her ancestors, and the turmoil of her final days. It was good for what it is, although quite honestly, much of my confusion about this family is not writers fault but Cleopatra's family itself. The tendancy to intermarry and to name rulers with names already in use makes them quite difficult to learn about and follow. But if you want a short read about her, this is a good choice. Succinct and rewarding! At first, I wanted more details, but soon realized that most would be unnecessary embellishments. This was very readable, in much agreement with facts I have seen before.
