I really like this issue and where the story is going. I think the Victim Syndicate is an interesting concept. I don’t mean to Tomi Lauren myself, but I do see a lot of people around my age victimizing themselves over everything. And while yes they may be victims of x, y, and z, it’s how you respond to x, y, and z that matters. For example you could become a member of the Victim Syndicate and let it control you, or become like Batman and work to keep others from become victims (not a perfect ana I really like this issue and where the story is going. I also like that there was some trans representation in this issue and it wasn’t made a big deal. I see a lot of people really pushing for representation in media, and that’s good and I agree wholeheartedly. But I see a lot of white, cis, heterosexual people trying to make it some big character revelation and a centerpiece of the plot, and to me that doesn’t feel genuine. Like yes my queerness is a big part of my life, but it doesn’t make me different from a cishet person. Being trans shouldn’t be a big deal, and it wasn’t made into one in this issue, and for that I am thankful. Queerness or being black/non-white is definitely something to celebrate, but more often then not I see it being tokenized in media and then people heap tons of praise at something just because it included something other than cishet white people, and while it is a step in the right direction, it’s far from being where it needs to and should be at.

The artwork stole my heart. I was so engrossed in the details of the coloring that the plot didn't matter. But that is not to say, it wasn't any good. I liked the part where Clayface talks about redemption. Is there ever a chance to free oneself from the sins of the past? Unless there is someone unforgiving to stop you by your tracks, the road to redemption will always remain a pipe dream. Forgiveness should start from the inside, and only then can you become a conduit to be forgiven. With that The artwork stole my heart. Going back to the artwork, I noticed there were 4 variants of gray on Tim Drake's cape and his mask. It really brought him to life. I usually study such details, as i learn to incorporate such style in my own.

Honestly, while I liked it, it felt like all setup for something much more interesting. Also, the art was a little off. I rarely give this book less than 4-stars. So, this 3 is a low point. The Cassie and Basil scene was heartwarming, but many of the other character beats fell flat.

Lots going on here reserving judgment until I see the whole picture, but it's an improvement. Lots going on here reserving judgment until I see the whole picture, but it's an improvement.

This storyline really knows what to do with Clayface. I feel bad for him.
