Actual rating: 3.5 stars. Um, this was a lot. There's a lot of things going on in this issue, and it wasn't bad, but it was just too much for me I guess. Like it was kind of an overload of drama and I was just not in the mood for it. The art was amazing though. Actual rating: 3.5 stars. Um, this was a lot. This is the most thorough look into Clayface I think I’ve ever seen. Crazy how long this character has existed for this to finally drop.

If you asked me about my top five, even top ten favorite Batman villains, I'd probably wouldn't mention Clayface. But that's the magic of comic books, and the constant reimaginings they go through. This story is so well written, so perfectly illustrated, that's it's impossible not to think more of the character within once you're done. I have a history of not enjoying or appreciating annual issues. This is the rarity. I loved this issue. It's the eyes. You see so much in those eyes. I've become a huge fan of Basil's since the Rebirth Detective Comics kicked in. I identify with him for better or worse. The art is haunting and the story is chilling. And it plays heavily into the stories we've had with him over the past year or two now. So good, I read it twice. I have a history of not enjoying or appreciating annual issues. This is the rarity. James Tynion IV is a god damn treasure.

This Clayface story had some sad moments, but I felt that it could have been told in a shorter amount of pages.

Poor Basil. I almost hope Tynions finds a way to write himself out of it.

Clayface's origin, a good story and the right place to tell this story. Clayface's origin, a good story and the right place to tell this story.
