This cover is alright. It isn't really a great representation on the story within and It's a little on the boring side. The typography is interesting but the composition feels off with the placement of the text. Meh...I did not love this one as much as the first book in this series. I found it eye-rolling that Beth would keep it a secret that Cord was her brother for 80% of the book. Then again I am not crazy about the whole "my sibling has a say in whom I date" trope. This story should have been called My Sexy, Sexy, Secret Ranger. Brick Mitchum has earned his nickname “Romeo” for a reason, he loves women… for a single night. Brick Mitchum has earned his nickname “Romeo” for a reason, he loves women… for a single night. With love in the air at the At-Ease ranch and after meeting Beth, Brick has been having second thoughts about relationships. Especially since this sweet and sexy buxom woman has been occupying more and more of his thoughts and heart. When even organizer Beth Brannigan went to help with her best friend’s wedding, she never thought she would have a fling with a cowboy, after all, her definition of adventure normally consisted in color codding her planner. Thinking Beth needs son fun and excitement in her life, her friend dares her to kiss a stranger, Beth was happily surprised to see the lucky man was her secret cowboy and didn’t hesitate to slap on a big ‘ol smooch which lead to more kisses, more dates, and just plain more. But when Beth figures out her secret cowboy is actually a ranger who served alongside her brother, she knows things will go south. Can she convince Brick to give them a shot after she tells him who she is? I read the first book in the series and was charmed by the characters, the small town and Lula Belle the cow. Yes a cow made me smile! And I couldn’t wait to read about the other Mitchum brother. This is a sexier read than the previous book, a much, much sexier one that fogged up my eReader from the get go because the protagonist just couldn’t seem to take their hands off each other. Building from their irresistible attraction, their relationship goes from fling to f-al-ling in love between laughs and sensual touches and a lot of sneaking around in Beth’s case after she gathers Brick is her brother’s Army Ranger friend. Even though she’s a grown woman and shouldn’t base her decisions on other people’s opinions, I did understand where she came from and the cloak and dagger made for some humorous situations, and when the time came to fess up I wanted to slap her brother and Brick over the head for being so silly. I loved having Lula Belle, Stone, Jovy and the rest of the men from the At Ease ranch back. I can’t wait to read about Cord, Beth’s brother. Her Secret Ranger is book #2 in the Men At Ease Ranch series by Donna Michaels. This a fun, sexy and fast standalone romance, told from both points of view with a happy ending and introduction to the next couple in the series. * I was given an ARC of this book courtesy of the author via Tasty Book Tours. So I only recently read In A Rangers Arms and I was intrigued by these men from At Ease ranch, so when I saw the opportunity to read Her Secret Ranger I jumped all over it. Brick I knew was a one and done, hence his nickname Romeo so I knew she was going to have to be something pretty special. From the first page this book didn’t play out at all how I expected it to and I really enjoyed all the little loops the author threw in that made this a unique twist on what is a very clichéd subject. Now obviously this was one of those times that my goldfish brain worked in my favour as I had forgotten a few minor details from the first book so as I clicked on it was a nice little “oh yeah” moment which gave me some warm fuzzies. The chemistry between these two was great and there was plenty of smoking hot sex to make me fan myself as I went along. Obviously there had to be a little drama or the book would be a little flat but it was really well written and even though I wanted to smack Brick with his namesake we eventually got there and got a really nice HEA and I absolutely can’t wait for the next book in the series. So if your chasing a nice, sweet, drama light book with sexy cowboys and a few steamy sex scenes thrown in this is a great series to dive into. It can be read as a standalone however this one picks up straight after the first book and they are so short and sweet there’s no harm in reading that one first. Oh and don’t worry Lula Belle pays a visit in this one too. Check out my reviews here

So hot and really good! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This book reminded me so much of another series that is similar yet slightly different too. I love reading about military men and this one is a great addition to this series of these hot, yet wary men. This story is told mainly from Beth's POV but we also get the guys insight too. 3 stars This was an okay read for me. I thought there was a lot going on in this book (maybe a little bit too much), and then finally everything comes out in the open in the last 10% of the book. I thought the ending was rushed. I did like the storyline, and the characters. I will continue on with this series because I think it has a lot of potential (and I want to read Cord's book) A copy of this book has been provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review" 3 stars This was an okay read for me. I loved this! A great feel good romance with just enough drama not to be sappy. This gets really interesting and the feelings grow stronger but so does the danger of being found out . I loved this book. It is a wonderful quick read. What's a girl to do when she's caught between a Brick and Cord place?Lol! The chemistry between Beth and Brick was awesome!Brick is cooler than his brother Stone whom we met in the first book.It was great reading from both the main characters' point of views. It was a little weird to see Beth being afraid of her brother's reactions. He has his reasons, but still its a free country man.Your sister should get to date whoever she wants. Even more stupid was the fact that Beth decided to keep it a secret from both Beth and Cord.So there were many funny moments where she has to manage things. Nevertheless, it was a great read in the end and I loved being able to meet all the old characters again. I hope Cord gets his story next, and I am really interested in reading it! In need of something to read that would spike up body temperature? You might want to consider Her Secret Ranger. The heat-o-meter is certainly hot on this one! Honestly, I haven't read the previous book and -although there were are a couple of remarks pertinent to book #1 - it didn't disturb the fun of reading this. Donna Michaels writes a couple of delightful characters; a bit too perfect in appearance to my liking, perhaps (both had gorgeous face and bod), but of whom I could empathize. So, the gist of the story was the stranger Beth had a relationship with turned not to much of a stranger anyway. Brick was her big brother's best friend cum Army Ranger teammate. Knowing her brother's brotherhood ethic code of don't mess with one's sisters while falling for one of said brotherhood member, what's a girl got to do? Keeping both men from finding out the truth, that's what Beth did. Well, the keeping the truth part didn't particularly sit well with me. But I get where the heroine came from. So expect a bit of cat and mouse hide and seek on the story. With the bulk of the scenes the heated tango between Beth and Brick I mentioned earlier. I wish the getting to know part between the MCs was slightly more than sexually as shown here. I also wouldn't say no to some additional brother/sister moments to back up that hint of closeness Beth and Cord had. As it is, Her Secret Ranger is quite an amusing, humorous, and steamy read of lust turned to love cowboy romance. Beth loves her brother, who also happens to be Brick's best friend and one of his Ranger buddies. A good part of this book is spent on some lovin' and I'm the type of person who likes some plot to my book, so this was an okay read for me. I must be in a book slump because lately all I'm reading is books that have nothing but sex and no plot. I want a good book with a plot. Throw in some sex and I'm good but if every other page is nothing but sex then I am like an ADHD kid hopped up without their meds...I'm skipping pages and jumping books back and forth. So why the 4 stars? I liked the writing overall and I can overlook the fact that it was overrun with sexual content. What I couldn't overlook was all the pouting Brick did because he couldn't date/sleep with his best friends sister when he thought she wronged him by keeping it a secret that she was "the secret sister." OH MY GOD MAN!!! Grow some man balls and grow up!! It's not the end of the everloving world or maybe it is because you're not getting your 20 times a day sex! LOL. I am so pleased I have found Donna Michaels' books into my life because they are just like little rays of sunshine. Brick Mitchum is one delicious hero! His sexiness is off the charts, yet his adoration of Beth is filled with gentle, romantic thoughts and actions. This playboy Romeo is all hearts when it comes to Beth, and that was just precious. He is charming yet not over the top, he is kind yet he takes charge when it is called for, his loyalty is beyond approach but he can humble himself and apologize when he has stepped over the line. Beth Brannigan has finally gotten the chance with her career, taking charge of the event planning to her best friend's wedding. Yet she is distracted by the handsome, sexy man who charmed her couple weeks before. The chemistry between them is smoldering, they can hardly keep hands off each other, yet they find a connection outside the bedroom as well. Beth is swooning, surely this is the one she has been waiting for. Until 'the one' turns out to be his brother's best friend. Already half in love with Brick, she tries to steal few more moments of pure happiness before the discovery will explode on her face, and rip apart her heart. I enjoyed watching Beth and Brick fumble with their feelings, fight against the inevitable, but most of all, find the tune, that link, that tie that connects their hearts and minds with each other. The humor, the banter, the wisecracks, the whimsy, the sass - however you call it, it was there and it hit home with me. The playfulness and adoration are balanced with just enough drama and turmoil. I admit, there was even a moment for tears, as I lived through every emotion with the engaging characters. Lovable, luscious, and potent romance that is enticing and entertaining ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

This is the first book that I have read from this author. This was a brother’s best friend/secret romance book between Beth and her brother’s best friend Brick. It was an ok story. You won’t regret it. Told from dual points of views, Beth and Brick have an incredibly steamy attraction that they just can’t ignore, despite neither fully wanting a relationship. Both Beth and Brick were likeable, a little feisty, definitely sexy, and just all around great characters with realistic flaws that everyone can relate to. There were some new and old sub-characters that helped move this fast paced book along and expand on the main two characters further. What I love about this series and the characters is the emotional undertone the books take on but without being too heavy and serious, get the balance of light hearted and serious just right. I can’t wait to read more in this series! Definitely recommend this book. *I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Entangled Publishing via NetGalley. The farm actually belongs to Brick and his brother, Stone. They take the other team members on as equal partners to help with the construction and therapies offered. The farm is free to veterans. Brick and his friends own and run a construction company to bring in much needed funds for the farm. Cord is Brick’s best friend. They’ve been there for each other since they met in basic training. Beth is an event planner, and Cord’s little sister. She goes out to the local saloon one night for a much needed break and meets a sexy cowboy that she spends the weekend with and then they go their separate ways. No last names exchanged. Fast forward 2 weeks, they run into each other again. Sparks are still flying and they start seeing each other. Lots of steamy sex scenes but I would have liked to seen more interaction between them outside the sex scenes. When Beth discovers that Brick is one of Cord’s Ranger buddies, she hides the truth from both of them knowing it would be the end of the relationship. I struggled a bit with her keeping it secret so long but sort of understood why. Cord was a little over the top protective of his baby sister. Brick’s pouting after the blow up was a bit much for a former Ranger. What a great cast of supporting characters. I loved Jovy for forcing the issue! It looks like Cord’s story is up next! This is my first book in this series and I easily read it as a standalone. Although I am interested in going back for Stone’s story. I look forward to continuing this series. Two and a half stars. I'm afraid this novel tried to be too many things to please too many people and ended up being an unholy mish-mash that, in my opinion, lost its identity. I'm afraid this novel tried to be too many things to please too many people and ended up being an unholy mish-mash that, in my opinion, lost its identity. Elizabeth Brannigan is an assistant events planner whose boss is a control freak who takes credit for all her work and blames her when things go wrong. Her older brother Cord and his former Ranger buddies run some kind of veterans refuge slash ranch called At-Ease in the small town of Joyful. They also have a construction business on the side. Some of this may have been explained in the first book. Cord has always refused to let his baby sister, Lizzie, or his family meet any of his ranger buddies, even now that they have left active duty, and has always referred to them by their (frankly ridiculous) nicknames. The entire group are suffering the after-effects of a mission gone wrong (I think). Beth, as she prefers to be known, is so under her older brother's thumb and his controlling ways that she has barely dated. Even when he was deployed overseas she didn't date because she didn't want him to worry about the sort of guys she was seeing when he wasn't around to protect her! And yet, apparently she had hot monkey sex with a sexy cowboy she met at a club and knew nothing but his name. A month later she sees the same guy and, as a dare from her best friend, who doesn't realise that this is the hot one night stand, she kisses him in a bar. The hot guy goes by the frankly ridiculous name of Brick (and that's not a nickname). Brick (and I'm sorry but after a while I read this as "prick") and Beth have both obsessed about that one night stand and so they start a relationship. Until Beth, Brick was a player, never brought a woman back to the ranch, never took a woman to his room, never slept in a bed with a woman, never spent the night. His ranger nickname was (originally enough) Romeo. At this point I feel compelled to say that his brother (the hero of the first book apparently) is called Stone (I kid you not, Brick and Stone - words fail me). Of course, Brick is not only one of Cord's ranger buddies but also Cord's best friend. Despite guessing from his posture and attitude that Brick is ex-military, Beth doesn't realise/suspect that he knows her brother, even though he tells her he works on a ranch, until he takes her to the ranch and she realises it is the one where her brother lives. Of course they guys have a code - never mess with a team mate's sister (WTF?) and so Beth KNOWS that the burgeoning love affair will be terminated if either Cord or Brick finds out. Now, reading the blurb I kind of knew what to expect and I was expecting this to be a read by numbers romance but there were just too many things going on, this was both a sweet romance and an attempt at a sexy novel - so we got LOTS of sex, but not much erotica. Volume but not much heat. A cowboy romance, a one night stand romance, a special ops romance, a bad boy converted romance, a setting up your own business ... I think this could have done with less tropes and more real feelings. I felt that Donna Michaels was just running through a checklist of situations with little consideration for continuity or plot, I didn't feel engaged with either Beth or Brick. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review. Bumped for release.

I love this book, although I wanted to scream at Beth at times to come clean with the guys. Beth and Brick's connection is so well described with so much feelings that I had tears in my eyes. The author has a way of writing that pulls me in to the story and keeps a hold on my brain, heart and soul. I laughed, cried and felt like I was beside the characters in the story. The storyline is good and the writing style makes it easy to read. It doesn't make it less easy with all the dialogues, which I alway enjoy. The love scenes was great and hot but still the author made them full of sweetness so it was a perfect mix in my opinion. In addition to a wonderful love story this is also a story about the unique connection forming between people serving their country and facing challenges together. The respect some of them have for each other can last long after their home. At Ease Ranch is a place where they come together to live, work and support each other. I'm fully prepared for Cord and his history with Haley, and that's what I also love about this series is that I get a little hint of the next story(hopefully)

The At-Ease, along with Foxtrot Construction, are owned by Brick, and his brother, Stone (see book one, In a Ranger's Arms), to assist veterans adapt to civilian life and have employment opportunities. Beth knows Rachel senses she's keeping something from her and when she tricks Beth into a game of Truth and Dare, for the first time in their friendship, Beth takes the latter. When Rachel, the bride, tricks her into a game of Truth or Dare because she knows Beth has a secret, Beth takes the latter and must kiss the next single cowboy they see...and it just happens to be the man Beth is keeping the secret about. Beth almost refuses, until she sees who the recipient will be. That is one cowboy she will eagerly kiss. Brick can't believe it when the sexy woman from two weekends ago walks up and kisses him. Their chemistry was and still is explosive. He hasn't been able to stop thinking about their two nights together and though they were only to be a fling, he's happy when she accepts his invitation to dinner. A date that goes very well. "His last thought before exhaustion claimed him was: life is never going to be the same. He was good with that." - Brick Beth is enjoying her fifth date with Brick and is quickly realizing she's falling for him. She's happy to see it seems as if he's feeling it too, something his brother confirms. However, Beth gets a sinking, and painful, feeling as she learns more about what Brick used to do and currently does because she just knows it means Brick is best friends with Cord, her very protective older brother, which would make them former teammates. Cord has always kept his military life separate from her and their Mom, refusing to even introduce her to any of the men he served with. Will Beth tell Brick immediately? Or will she wait a few days to have as much time with Brick as she can? What happens when Cord discovers Brick and Beth are together? Will Brick react like Beth believes he will and walk away? Will Beth get a chance to explain? Will Brick and Beth get their HEA? Or is the guy-code of not dating sisters more important to Brick than the woman he loves? One-click now and follow along as two people discover a relationship that quickly becomes more than originally intended. On a purely personal note, I could've done without references to Brick's apparently vast sexual past, hence his call sign of Romeo, never having more than one date or revisiting the same woman ever (prior to Beth), the numerous references to past experiences with other women, and one of those in particular regarding a striptease performed for him and the number of people involved and touching him. Gross. This is not at all heroic behavior nor anything I want to read about while getting invested in him becoming part of a couple. Yes, neither main characters were virgins, but there was never mentions like this regarding Beth's past, so why did there need to be for Brick? I deducted a star simply for this reason because it's information that's not needed nor is it in any way necessary to the story. **I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**

But when the woman who claims his lips on a random dare turns out to be his weekend tryst from two weeks earlier, Brick is smitten. Beth Brannigan thought she’d never see the hunky Cowboy again, however the chemistry that was so all-consuming weeks ago has not abated, and letting this handsome man go may be harder than she realises. Ms Michaels has penned a wonderful, heartfelt and sometimes frustrating account of two people drawn together, doing nothing wrong, but inevitably ripped apart by an inane Brotherhood code that forbids your buddy from fraternising with your female relative. The first two stories in this fabulous series are the Mitchell brothers, Stone and Brick, but there’s still so much more to come and Cord Brannigan better watch out, as he is definitely on Ms Michaels` radar!

Military men seem to have a code for everything. Most are easily understood but when it's not allowed to date a buddy's sister that is a hard one to follow. I love how Donna introduces the two characters for her next book but it's done quietly. My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.

Even though Beth keeps her true identity a secret from Brick, she does it for reasons that make sense to her at the time. I didn't agree with her choices, but I understood them. Granted, I have no clue how she thought that going to At-Ease with Brick before telling him who she was could even be in the same realm as a good idea, but it almost worked. Although Cord's protectiveness was a bit over-dramatic, it suited the purpose of this book, and led to Beth's best moments in the book. I also wonder if his extreme reactions to “breaking the buddy code” will be explained in his own book, but I'm not going spoil anything buy making assumptions here. This was a quick but fun read with really great chemistry. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a light read with a whole lot of sexiness. I requested and was granted an ARC of this book by NetGalley. I wrote this review because I enjoyed the book.
