Smith Wigglesworth was a man who took God at his word. He stepped out on the Bible promises, and in his own inimitable way, went into action, preaching the word and healing the sick. I have found this book truly inspiring. I want to read it again in a few months times.

This biography is one of the easiest to read biographies I've ever come across. The writing style is engaging and almost conversational. Though all the facts of Wigglesworth's life from start to finish are expressed, there's no sense of having to trawl through to the interesting bits. I think this is probably achieved by Julian by taking the approach of looking into the spiritual fabric of the man, rather than the practicalities of his existence. Though all the facts of Wigglesworth's life from start to finish are expressed, there's no sense of having to trawl through to the interesting bits. I think this is probably achieved by Julian by taking the approach of looking into the spiritual fabric of the man, rather than the practicalities of his existence. Wigglesworth's life is such an encouragement and testament to God's principle of giving strength to the weak and teaching the wise through the foolish. His example of being an uneducated man and yet preaching with such wisdom and clarity proves that God will reveal Himself to any who seek after Him. Not only that, but regardless of whether you have studied theologies or doctrine, God will give you all power in heaven or on earth, coupled with His authority, so that we can have the confidence to do even more than Christ did during His ministry. What promises! And what an embodiment of those Smith Wigglesworth was! This book is a challenging read in regards to taking hold of the promises God has given each of us today, and moving in them through faith! I recommend this book to anyone who feels they may have been, or are in, a time of trial or testing in their walk with God - it really helps set the focus rightly on Christ Jesus.

About 8 years ago I was handed a biography of Smith Wigglesworth by a youth leader...and it sat on my stairs until I returned it... I now see why he wanted me to read one! Wigglesworth's story is challenging, at times humorous and, although I feel certain I wouldn't have liked the man on a personality-to-personality basis, highly inspirational. This biography was easy to read without seeming dumbed down. This biography was easy to read without seeming dumbed down. I do feel like I know far, far more about the man (as of course is the purpose of a biography...) and also that I have some understanding of him as well, which is not as easy to accomplish as Wilson manages here! However, in the interests of balance... My historian side was a little frustrated at the sheer lack of citations and footnotes - it would have been really helpful to have more in the way of evidence for these conversations and events etc, if only to cover its own back and satisfy history graduates like me! This and the narrative not always being clearly chronological held it back slightly for me, especially as I had no background knowledge other than 'ooh is that the one who used to hit cancer...?' :) All said, this is a great book which feels far shorter than its 200 pages due to the readability and the fascinating subject matter! Read it!

Best Wigglesworth biography, I have read most every book I can find on Wigglesworth, including all the classics, this is the most comprehensive and well researched. It does go over familiar ground already published before but adds a lot of new details for instance like how the Bowland street mission came to be and was run. Wish we had even more on Wigglesworth, but this is a good one.
