This was a fun mix of new and old, good and not-so-good writing. Overall, I enjoyed the variety and getting a taste of the steampunk genre. I'm biased toward the older authors since their work has generally stood the test of time to make it into this volume, and the newer works, as you would expect, were a mix of great and trendy writing that I think will not age well. Liked it overall though it did take it a long time for me to read personally. The variety of stories in this one are broad which gives it variety but it also means that there are tonal/linguistic styles that shift work to work.

Not reviewing the entire book, just the short story written by my friend Spencer Ellsworth, The Fires of Mercy. It is cool to see his name among many of my other favorite authors. This was an incredibly intriguing story, I was very disappointed that it was so short. Dang it man! Give me the rest!! I know you have it in your brain, I demand your brain stories, immediately! I want the boy emperor to grow up and realize that in each mercy, there is also an act of war, don't you think? and the pearls Not reviewing the entire book, just the short story written by my friend Spencer Ellsworth, The Fires of Mercy. I want the boy emperor to grow up and realize that in each mercy, there is also an act of war, don't you think? and the pearls to be traded for the assassin's medical bills and more of the prophets and the sands and the Thousand Names and numbered prophets. I will say please if I must.
