These books got my oldest son liking books when he was young because they are hilarious! We read them together and they are perfect for boys ages 7-10ish - they have just the right sense of humor for that age! They might not have the most content or have an important message but they are fun and get boys to read, so to me they are 5 star worthy.

Miss 3 has devoured Captain Underpants at bedtime each night! She loves reading these (and the movie too!). Miss 3 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors. *Children's Series* Dav Pilkey's Captain Underpants series provides readers with a sense of comical adventure! In his attempts to save the day, Captain Underpants seems to do everything but that along way, causing a great deal of chaos and trouble. From evil talking toilets space alien lunch ladies, this series is filled with the most unconventional stories you'll probably ever hear! Equipped with black and white comic like illustrations, this series is so much fun to read. My favorite illustrated asset of the series is the use of flip-o-rama's in which readers can flip and see images, similar to a flip book. This adds an element of uniqueness. I believe that these books can be well adapted for any age group as I am 19 and STILL love them! However, I would best place the series in a 1-3 grade classroom simply because of the reading level. I would definitely incorporate these books into my classroom library! Pages - Varied Tags - Superhero, Comic, Boys, Flip-o-Rama, Lunch Ladies, Toilets, Aliens, Principals, Wedgies

My 8 year old son LOVES these books. He had read Dav Pilkey's Ricky Ricotta books and nothing else interested him...these captured him. He wanted to stay up late reading. I found him setting his alarm clock so he could wake up early and read...that's a winner to me, regardless of the ridiculousness of the main character. Fortunately, there are lots of them, so it kept him going. He was pretty sad when I informed him he had read them all. I actually only read portions of the books with Garrett. Some of it is just gross, with boogers and what not, but he is a boy, so...

any book that inspires young people (especially young boys!) to read is awesome--and dav pilkey has created a character that gets so many young folks to pick up a book! sure, they're full of potty humor--but they may be the first of MANY books that kids end up reading. bravo, mr. pilkey! you are a superhero!! any book that inspires young people (especially young boys!) to read is awesome--and dav pilkey has created a character that gets so many young folks to pick up a book! sure, they're full of potty humor--but they may be the first of MANY books that kids end up reading. bravo, mr. pilkey! you are a superhero!!

If there is a reluctant reader in the household, Captain Underpants does come to the rescue. Even if there is an avid reader in the household with more uh, delicate taste, she will love him too! Dav Pilkey wrote the beautiful but subtle Paper Boy. Nuff Said. He also wrote the cute Dragon series for younger readers.

I would really give this series 3 1/2 stars if I could. I read these in middle schol and really enjoyed them. It is a simple story with fun characters, and I'll be honest, my favorite part was flipping the pages to make the images appear to move. I would really give this series 3 1/2 stars if I could. I loved these books as a kid! The characters were hilariously genre-savy and almost everything was pumped up to awesome with ridiculousness. If you ever need to use a book to get a child into reading, use these.

I only think the plot is what makes the story interesting, the characters are a bit immature. If I could make the story better, the characters would be something else. overall, I only like the plot, which is interesting and grabs reader's attention.
