I'll probably never read this because the cheapest copy I found online was around $96ish. The price almost nearly killed me. So yeah, probably never going to read this. The plot is insane. OMG. I haven't even existed when this book came out! I'll probably never read this because the cheapest copy I found online was around $96ish. The price almost nearly killed me. Was it worth the coins I paid for this obscure paperback? Perhaps not, but the story was still intersting enough IMHO. Initially went into it expecting the plot to be a cool eighties b-movie horror. But instead got something more along the lines of the 2008 film The Haunting of Molly Hartley (that took influences or an extension from earlier flicks: The Omen, more notably Rosemary's Baby.) But instead got something more along the lines of the 2008 film The Haunting of Molly Hartley (that took influences or an extension from earlier flicks: The Omen, more notably Rosemary's Baby.) I digress, the plot mainly deals with a shady organization of satanists that ultimately uses Spencer Academy as a school that secretly harbors future youthful vessels for those aging and dying members in need of possessing a healthy body. Jennifer Parrish, although seemingly a main character, served as the latest victim of the currently aging member aptly named Mrs. Hartley. Meanwhile there are other things taken place every other chapter, as characters from previous books in this series are desperately trying to survive their plight. Specifically--Stephen Abbott, supposedly one of the elite members, had failed in a previous mission with Jessica Young due to an emotional connection he has with her and the fact that she apparently also has powerful psychic abilities that protect her from the organizations evil plan. The organizations main objective is to eventually take over the world unawares and the members also have the privledge of making individuals obsessed with soley them; not only do the victims no longer have free will, they're also only sexually aroused by said member and become impotent with anyone else that isn't them. Because Stephen is on the chopping block he has to prove himself worthy by retaining Jessica again or else become 'obsessed' with another female rival elite member and be stripped from any previous positions held. Stephen tries desperately to ask Jessica for help, she can kill members with a psychic blast (corny? lol) and even suggests to run away together. Jessica refuses to help him, making it a point to use him (like he apparently used her) and degrade him by sleeping with him, providing no remorse despite her 'feelings' for him. This all happens away from Spencer Academy at a different location. Back at the academy an illicit affair is occurring with a Colonel Marcia Davis and student cadet Don Locke whose in charge of assuring that Jennifer is deflowered for the ceremony. Marcia isn't privy to the organization, but falls in love with Don who took her virginity even though she is in her early 40s. Anyhow, the ceremony doesn't work successfully (only briefly does her soul get transfered to Mrs.Hartley's body) because Jennifer remained a virgin by rejecting Don's advances and making him fail. The suspense was there and it all didn't end happily for Jeniffer. All in all the plot was good. I like the sense of carnality with all of the characters, even though the sex scenes mostly left things to the imagination. I didn't really care for how much the author jumps around from point to point, as that became a bit confusing at times especially since this was the last book in the series and I haven't read any of the others. More importantly it could have included more action and creepy/scary scenes which is generally sought after in horror novels. The ending leaves you wanting more.

There must be something about selling your soul to Satan that makes you constantly horny. That seems to be one of the over-riding themes of Russ Martin’s 1980s satanic cult novels, although this late entry into the series is the only one I’ve read. But I want to read them all. I want to know more about the vast, international network of Satan-worshipping lords of industry, movie stars, and educators at our most elite institutions who go about lining up either nubile young women or studly dudes to There must be something about selling your soul to Satan that makes you constantly horny. I want to know more about the vast, international network of Satan-worshipping lords of industry, movie stars, and educators at our most elite institutions who go about lining up either nubile young women or studly dudes to provide new bodies for Old Nick’s aging acolytes. Although as we learn from this novel, even when working for his Satanic majesty, mistakes can happen. And you sure as shit don’t want to cross him. Martin’s camp value is slightly undercut by any thought that during the time they were written, Satan was having a good run in the more gullible strata of American society. He had made his way into day care centers, Goth culture, graffiti culture, heavy metal – anywhere that good, upstanding American citizens could feel the slightest hint of unease. Martin’s novels are all OP, discouragingly expensive on the internet, and unlikely candidates for the reprint market. But for anyone tired of bloated, watered-down Dan Brown blockbusters, they are a refreshing drink of foul nectar. Trash should be trashy.

This book was a big disappointment. I never read anything by Russ Martin before. I have heard good things though. Those things are very wrong. At least when it comes to this one. The back of this book states that Mr. Martin blends explicit sensuality with satanic horror, well there is a satanic ritual in this. It's pretty lame at that. The sex is very limited. Nothing explicit at all. This kind of read like a Sweet Valley High book most of the time. A spoiled Beverley Hills teenage brat ( Parrish This book was a big disappointment. Some of the teens there seem to change overnight into more mature people. Why? Jennifer hooks up with the best looking guy in school. Will she give into his advances? After awhile you pretty much don't care. Throw in some characters who just seem to appear with no background, like the author was holding something from us. The ending was a complete cop out. A perfect waste to this tepid affair. The beginning of the book gave us hope that this would have some substance. It fizzles out real quick. How this book commands a high price on Amazon and other sites, I'll never understand. Save your money.
