I’m not entirely sure how to rate this. On the on hand it was absolutely awful but it was so awful to the point where it was kind of hilarious? Each story was so incredibly simplified to fit into such a short comic, that it almost felt like a parody of itself. I’m a major Disney fan, so it would have been near impossible for me to dislike this and no matter how diluted the stories were, I found them a lot of fun (even if it was simply because of how ridiculous they were). First of all, this thing is H U G E at 800 pages, so brace yourselves if you want to read it. Though it was a really summarized version of each story, it was really interesting to see the different art styles mixed into the old styling of comics. There were also new stories so it wasn't just rereading all of the princess stories over and over. Recommended 6+ for Disney magic and violence. It's similar to the Disney Pixar Comics Treasury in that it's a hefty 800+ pages of comic versions of Disney films. The plots are a little simplified to get all these stories in this huge book, and they're written in such a way that young readers won't have any trouble reading this on their own. The big difference between this and the Pixar anthology is that the Pixar comics felt like they were drawn more recently, and some of the artists took a few slight liberties in how they depicted the characters. You can tell who everyone is, it's just that they have the small nuances of each different artists own style. The Disney anthology feels like they simply took the comic versions that were made to accompany the film from previous Disney comics and simply added them to the compendium. I say that's what it looks like, because even though there's different artists and colorists for each story it still feels like they're doing their hardest to match the style and color tones from the movie [and frankly that's my favorite part of the whole book]. There's also little side stories for a few characters, which increases the feeling that they're from other Disney comics. And sure they have to skip through my favorite parts of the movies [the songs] but songs are kinda tough when written down in panels [sure as an adult I'd love that, but most kids might not have the tonality knowledge to read the rhythm of the sentences]. And yeah, because the stories are condensed versions with simplified plot we do have moments where an important character will say a well known line differently than we remember [the most notable one I can remember is Cinderella's fairy godmother says "Abracadabra" instead of bibbity-bobbity-boo], and I know it's to make it easier to read for kids, but if your kid has seen the movie, and can read, they can probably manage that line. The only big problem I have with this book [and the Pixar treasury] is that the covers are very flimsy paperbacks, and the pages inside feel more like the newsprint sort of paper used for Sunday comics. And I'm a grown adult, and I've already put in a dent or two on accident to the cover [and I worked hard to pull out a good conditioned book from the store]. These covers are so easy to mess up that you can see dents and bends and rips on them just from them being shipped out to the store. So just be careful, cause they're kinda easy to break.

This was great. I love Disney movies, especially the princess ones. I didn’t read this straight through in order. I went through and read all of the original stories and then went back and read all of the extra stories. It was cool, because I hadn’t actually seen all of the movies that are included. I haven’t ever seen Tangled, Princess and the Frog, or Brave so at least now I know how the stories play out. And a lot of the ones I have seen I haven’t seen in a long time. I wanted to pick out favorites and least favorites and go into more details, but I just loved it all. The only thing I didn’t like was the lack of Frozen, because I adore Frozen. I want a Volume 2 with all the new Disney princess movies that have come out in the past few years. I especially loved some of the extra stories. As much as this book made me want to go watch all of these movies again, it made me want to go watch the tv shows even more. I had forgotten how much time I spent when I was little watching the Aladdin and Little Mermaid tv shows. The extra stories made me feel so nostalgic for these days. I’ve never stopped watching the movies so the original stories didn’t have that same nostalgic effect, but they were still a lot of fun. This was just awesome.

I picked this up because I am a Disney queen and I loved the Alice in Wonderland comic, but this book just didn't do it for me. It didn't feel the same. This is a book that you need to have an open mind about to read. There were some changes because while it does retell the stories in comic form it also has some originality to it. The book tells the original tales of all the princesses excluding Anna and Elsa which I don't mind because there's still a lot of Frozen hype going on. This is all a book strictly on the princesses. It also includes other stories such as Ariel's underwater adventures before she came above the sea to live with Eric. It' This is a book that you need to have an open mind about to read. It also includes other stories such as Ariel's underwater adventures before she came above the sea to live with Eric. It's just like the episodes we watched when we were younger. I love how we see how Ursula got her own cavern which was pretty damn cool and totally something she would do. I loved that princess Jasmine got more than just one story in this book. I was expecting a bunch of stories mostly surrounding the first three princesses because I feel like they are paid more attention to than any of the other princesses. The other stories for the princesses were cute and very creative. I enjoyed them because it allowed me to see some of the princesses before or after their lives being wed. I wish I saw an original Jasmine comic 'cause she is my favorite. But we got all three of her movies in comic form instead. The art work was very well done and I enjoyed looking at all the pages and admiring it so it took a little longer to finish. I would've given this 5 stars, but there were little things here and there that bothered me like the character not wearing the right color outfit and of course Jasmine not having an original story. And some of the princesses did get more attention than the others. Ariel, Jasmine, Belle, Mulan, Cinderella, and Snow White all had more than one story which I didn't really mind. I just would've liked to see all of them have another story besides the ones we knew them from. I felt like Ariel practically hogged the book with her tales. So we could've definitely had more than one story from the others if we slimmed Ariel down or even Belle who I felt hogged it a little too. But over all it was enjoyable. I would not recommend this book if you are a hardcore Disney fan where everything has to be perfect for you. Trust me you will nit pick this book. Also probably don't read this or share this with your children if they have that problem. I feel this book can be a great read for children who love Disney, but they might know their characters better than you think and have a problem with change. Good book, very creative, just needed more equality among the princesses.

This was a lot of fun and helped me refresh my mind of Disney movies I haven't seen in years (Pocahontas) or never seen (Princess and the Frog) and my all time favourites are in there too (Mulan, Sleeping Beauty). Horrible retellings of the Disney classic princess stories. If you grew up with these stories and loved them then do not read these. The Fairy Godmother in Cinderella is now her Godmother the Good Fairy and says abracadabra not bibbity boppity boo. This deserves 0 stars.
