A tremendous collection of ideas. Can't wait to get started on them. A tremendous collection of ideas. Can't wait to get started on them.

If you are looking for a book that will get your creative juices flowing in both fantasy and sci-fi (but mostly fantasy), this is a great idea. It offers a lot of good writing prompts. Some are clearly meant for short stories, but a few are expandable into a full novel (or series). I think this is a resource all writers should have on their bookshelves.

Valuable resource! Goes through a lot of information on fantasy you might need to know. Things like what weapons an army might have. What positions there are. Prompts to help you when you're stuck. Valuable resource! Goes through a lot of information on fantasy you might need to know. Things like what weapons an army might have. What positions there are. Thought provoking for writers and gamers Took me just a few minutes to read through, but gave me several ideas for short stories and RPG gaming modules. Definitely worth the small price paid!

I really like these prompts. Some were okay but others really got my brain going. It's a good book if you've got writers' block and are stuck for a new manuscript. I also like that the book gave good information on the various types of Fantasy Fiction. I really like these prompts. Some were okay but others really got my brain going. Fun and useful prompts for the fantasy author I took a long time working my way through the prompts in this book, refining about one every day into a short story or book idea for my own fantasy world setting. Sadly, because of the parameters of my own fantasy setting, I was only able to use about half of these fun ideas directly. But all of the ideas were interesting and sparked the imagination in some way, and I am very glad I used this book. But all of the ideas were interesting and sparked the imagination in some way, and I am very glad I used this book. There's even a nifty little appendix at the back of obscure measurements (like ells and furlongs), parts of an army, types of medieval European weaponry, sci-fi world design, and so forth.

The Good There were a lot of decent prompts. On top of that, there was a lot of terminology descriptions and meanings for fantasy writers. I thought that was neat to include in a prompt book. The types of weaponry used in fantasy, the sub-genres of fantasy, and the terminology for militia and professions. Nifty. The Bad The prompts weren’t numbered. For someone like me, who likes to keep spreadsheets with numbers to track what prompts I’ve used from what sources, this is frustrating to me. Not real The Good There were a lot of decent prompts. For someone like me, who likes to keep spreadsheets with numbers to track what prompts I’ve used from what sources, this is frustrating to me. Not really a big thing to anyone but me, but it’s one of the major things I look for with prompt books because it makes it easier to remind me what prompts I’ve attempted and/or used. The Rating Prompt books are strange beasts. Part of me wants to rate them the way I’d rate any other book, but they aren’t really like other books. This one is no exception. I really need to quit reading prompt books. They give me way too many ideas…

Prompt Ideas Not a bad list, but would be better listed as 100 Prompts...I appreciated the breakdown of ranks in the military and the list of time vs length definitions as several I didn't know. The ideas were often whimsical, intriguing and comical; however, many have been done again and again. Must be working because they're certainly successful. My favorite...the Phoenix idea. Wanna know what that is...read the book!
