Consider this a warning dear reader. Most of these stories are not for the faint of heart. While many of them are not horror stories in the traditional sense, some contain horrible and often remarkable things. Many of them are full of dark scenes and evil deeds. Some are full of wonder and even humor. There are many different spaces inside these covers to travel, but few a Consider this a warning dear reader. A Shadow Growing had definitely jumped out as my new favorite book of 2014. It is dark, macabre, and unexpected, but it is also whimsical and thought provoking. The author writes some of our deepest fears with an eye for provocation and in such a way as to make you feel as if you could really picture the worlds in his short stories as real, as something that is a true possibility whether in the now or in our future. I must say that the one story that stands out in my mind is "Albert". Something A Shadow Growing had definitely jumped out as my new favorite book of 2014. And the artwork, it is refreshing to see something so individual that gives you an insight to where the writer was drawing his inspiration from! This is definitely a must read! I couldn't put it down.

I received this book through a goodreads giveaway and I must say, it's become one of my favorites. Most of the stories are dark and Kafkaesque but there are a few heart-warming ones. There are some typos and minor mechanical errors but this should not deter anyone from reading it. The artwork accompanying each story was quirky and complemented the bleak (or upbeat in some cases) tone. Overall, I have and will continue to recommend this book. I won a free copy of this book in a goodreads contest. The book lives up to what it proclaims when it mention its stories are not for the faint of heart. I enjoy reading but there are times when I want to read something quick and go on with the day. This book gives you that chance since it is a collection of short stories. I love how after each short story there is a page dedicated to an artwork that relates to what you read. Although the stories are short, it is enough to leave chills.

This was a really great read. The nice thing about short story collections is that you can read a story at a time and not worry about continuity or how much time you have. These stories were creative and most of them left me with a feeling I couldn't soon shake. My only criticism is that this self-published book has some typos, which were distracting, but shouldn't stop you from reading it... This was a really great read.
