As a Charlotte native, I really enjoyed reading about the history of this city. I’ve lived here for most of my life and there was a lot of things I didn’t know! I really liked that it gave personal stories from different perspectives of Charlotte natives. I gave it 4 stars only because I wish it was a little more on the historical side, like chronologically. It was more in the format of personal essays about Charlotte. But it was great!

A fabulous blend of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, journalism about the Queen City. Having lived in Charlotte for three years, this was a perfect way to connect to this, my new home city. I'm not sure this book would resonate with visitors, but is perfect for transplants and perhaps longtime locals. I think one might need to feel a bit invested in the locale to truly appreciate the heart of this book.

Interesting to read if you are from or currently living in Charlotte. History is good to preserve and these essays, stories, and poems capture some unique details about what it means to have lived in or live in the Queen City both now and in the past.
