This story is like all my favourite old western movies all rolled into one, I believe a lot of movies were based on Zane Grey novels. I listened to an audiobook version (not this particular one) but wish I had read it as the reader wasn't very good. It didn't stop me enjoying the book though. Zane Grey has a knack of transporting his readers right into the wild west; the landscape is vividly described, the characters compelling and he launches straight into a gripping story with the first paragraph. If I have any complaint with Mr Grey it's his treatment of his female characters, their sole purpose in life is to fall in trouble and pray for a good gunman to get them out of it. I also suspect he has romanticised a little about life in the wild west. Other then that, I couldn't stop listening.
